Job Description
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The Quality Systems team is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving the quality management system (QMS) that underpins every product Anduril delivers to the warfighter. Operating within AS9100 and ISO 9001 frameworks, the team owns the documented processes, procedures, and policies that govern how Anduril designs, builds, tests, and sustains mission-critical defense technology. As the company scales across new product lines and production sites, the integrity and accessibility of QMS documentation becomes increasingly vital—clear, well-structured documentation is what turns quality standards into repeatable, auditable practice across the enterprise.
ABOUT THE JOB
The Quality Systems team is growing its documentation capability to keep pace with the rapid expansion of Anduril's QMS across new sites, products, and regulatory requirements. We are looking for a Technical Writer to join our team in Costa Mesa, CA. In this role, you will own the authoring, revision, and lifecycle management of QMS documentation—including quality manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, process maps, and policy documents—ensuring they are accurate, compliant, and usable by the teams who depend on them every day. You will partner closely with Quality Engineers, Process Owners, and Compliance leads to translate complex quality system requirements into clear, structured documentation that supports both internal operations and external audit readiness. This will require strong technical writing skills, a solid understanding of aerospace and defense quality standards, and meticulous attention to document control and configuration management. If you are someone who finds satisfaction in bringing order to complex processes through precise, well-organized documentation, thrives in a fast-paced environment where the QMS is actively evolving, and takes pride in creating documents that people actually use rather than just file away, then this role is for you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Author, revise, and maintain QMS-controlled documents—including the quality manual, standard operating procedures, work instructions, process flowcharts, and policy statements—ensuring alignment with AS9100, ISO 9001, and Anduril-specific requirements.
- Partner with Quality Engineers, Process Owners, and subject matter experts to gather technical content, validate accuracy, and translate complex quality system processes into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
- Own the end-to-end document lifecycle management process, including drafting, stakeholder review routing, revision control, approval workflows, and archival in accordance with QMS document control procedures.
- Develop and enforce documentation standards, templates, and style guides that ensure consistency in format, terminology, and structure across the full QMS document hierarchy.
- Support internal and external quality audits by ensuring documentation is current, traceable, and readily accessible, and by addressing audit findings or observations related to documented procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Regulatory Compliance—to document new processes, capture process changes, and ensure documentation keeps pace with operational evolution.
- Identify opportunities to improve documentation usability and accessibility, including evaluating tools, platforms, and formats (e.g., visual process maps, interactive SOPs) that make QMS content easier for frontline teams to find and follow.
- Track and report on documentation health metrics—such as overdue review cycles, open revision requests, and document gap analyses—to provide Quality leadership with visibility into the state of the documented QMS.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5–8 years of experience in technical writing, documentation management, or process documentation, with at least 2 years supporting quality management systems in aerospace, defense, or another highly regulated industry.
- Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, or comparable quality management standards and how they drive documentation requirements such as document control, traceability, and revision management.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical and regulatory content into clear, well-structured documents for diverse audiences—from production operators to senior leadership.
- Experience with document control systems, content management platforms, or electronic QMS tools (e.g., MasterControl, Veeva, SharePoint-based document control workflows).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple document projects, revision cycles, and stakeholder reviews simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be a U.S. Person (as defined under ITAR) and eligible to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
