Model ML Reaches $100M in Funding as Financial AI Agent Platform Accelerates Hiring
Model ML has crossed $100 million in cumulative funding following backing from HSBC Asset Management, according to Business Chief. The round drew participation from Financial Technology Partners and QED Investors, expanding a cap table that already includes LocalGlobe and Y Combinator.
The capital expansion coincides with senior leadership additions and integration partnerships. In October 2026, the company appointed former Salesforce Ventures and Lightspeed Ventures investor Alex Kayyal as Chief Financial Officer, reported The Drawdown. That same week, investor relations platform Quartr announced a native Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration with Model ML, connecting live earnings calls, transcripts, filings, and presentation decks from more than 16,000 public companies directly into the workspace.
Automating the Last Mile in Financial Services
Model ML builds an AI-native workspace designed for investment banks, private equity firms, asset managers, and consultancies. The software automates due diligence, financial analysis, reporting, and document creation. It works across structured and unstructured data, including emails, SEC filings, CRM databases, and third-party feeds.
The platform is designed to produce editable Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel files rather than static outputs. In an August 2026 case study published by OpenAI, Model ML reported that its agent harness uses OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol model to generate editable models and presentations. In internal benchmarks evaluated across real finance workflows, GPT-5.6 Sol completed PowerPoint creation tasks in 100% of test cases and used 36% fewer tokens per Excel workbook than Opus 5.
"Ready for real work means the user can move directly into real review," co-founder Chaz Englander stated in the case study. "The numbers trace back, the workbook recalculates, the slide is editable."
The company's software is model-agnostic, routing individual computational steps to whichever model performs best for that task while tracking source data back to original documents.
Serial Founders Backed by Banking Executives
Model ML was founded in 2023 by brothers Chaz Englander and Arnie Englander. Both are repeat founders who previously built and sold Y Combinator-backed startups.
Chaz Englander studied accounting and finance at the University of Wales before co-founding peer-to-peer rental marketplace Fat Llama (YC S17), which was acquired by Hygglo in 2022. At Model ML, he serves as Chief Executive Officer, directing business and sales operations.
Arnie Englander founded on-demand grocery delivery service Fancy (YC S20), which was acquired by Gopuff. He leads technology and product development.
Model ML went through Y Combinator’s W24 batch. Alongside its venture backers, the company has assembled an advisory roster of former financial executives. Advisors include former HSBC CEO Sir Noel Quinn, former UBS Chairman Axel Weber, former Western Union CEO Hikmet Ersek, and former Julius Baer CEO Philipp Rickenbacher.
