Maxar Space Systems designs and builds satellite buses, space robotics, and spacecraft subsystems. The company's 1300-class satellite platform is one of the most widely used commercial GEO bus designs, and Maxar is the prime contractor for NASA's Gateway Power and Propulsion Element (PPE) and HALO module.

Key programs

NASA Gateway PPE + HALO — The Power and Propulsion Element and Habitation and Logistics Outpost are the first modules of the cis-lunar Gateway station. This is Maxar's highest-profile program and a long-term hiring driver.

WorldView Legion — Next-generation Earth observation satellites with higher revisit rates. Supports both commercial and U.S. government customers (NGA).

Space robotics — Building on the Canadarm heritage (Canadarm, Canadarm2, Dextre). OSAM-1 on-orbit servicing mission with a Maxar-built robotic arm.

Commercial GEO satellites — 1300-class buses for telecom operators.
