Careers at Monumint: Teams, Pay and How to Get Hired

By Andrew Chang•

Who gets hired and onto which teams

Monumint has posted nine roles since its W24 Y Combinator batch, eight of them salaried, with compensation bands ranging from $75,000 to $325,000. The voice-AI startup sells into regulated financial institutions from a five-person team in San Francisco, where every hire shapes a roadmap that must satisfy both compliance officers and borrowers who want their loan modified.

This guide maps who Monumint hires across sales, software, AI/ML, finance and marketing teams, what the salary bands show, what is known about the interview process, where work happens in its San Francisco headquarters, and which personal traits appear among successful employees.

The roles posted since W24 cluster in sales and engineering. Go-to-market positions dominate: a Head of Sales tasked with building the entire enterprise motion, Enterprise and Mid-Market Account Executives carrying quotas into banks and credit unions, and an Enterprise SDR feeding the top of that funnel. Engineering runs nearly as deep — Senior Software Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, Full Stack Engineer, plus two founding engineers who describe the culture as "strong ownership, fast shipping, real impact." A Content Marketing Lead rounds out the full-time roster, while a separate Strategic Advisor track brings in former CTOs, CIOs, and Heads of Servicing on contract to translate lending-operations reality into product decisions.

Each cluster screens for a different proof point. The Head of Sales posting demands a large-ACV track record in enterprise B2B SaaS, preferably fintech, plus experience hiring and mentoring AEs and building playbooks from scratch. Account Executives require three-plus years of experience. The SDR role asks for one-plus years. On the engineering side, the Senior Software Engineer listing sets a six-year floor and a 0.5–1.5% equity band; Forward Deployed and Full Stack roles start at three years with the same equity range. Mark Ding, a founding engineer, said the open-source OCR project Zerox (11k+ stars) demonstrates the technical bar and a team that ships to production, not just demo environments.

The advisor profile is the sharpest filter: ten-plus years in banking, lending, or financial services at senior-leadership level; hands-on exposure to loan origination, servicing, collections, or contact-center operations; and a track record of evaluating IVR or customer-communication technology. Monumint explicitly targets current and former leaders across auto, mortgage, personal, and small-business lending, plus credit-union executives who run servicing and collections. Compensation for advisors is cash and/or equity, calibrated to involvement.

What ties these profiles together is the company's stated constraint: it builds in person in San Francisco, and it builds for institutions that cannot tolerate hallucinations or regulatory missteps. Zeeshan Zulfiqar, a founding engineer, said the culture offers "freedom and trust to explore new ideas" within that constraint. Rigel Bricken, Head of Partnerships, said it is a chance to "use cutting-edge AI to solve real problems for lenders and their underserved small business customers." The through-line is not pedigree — it's the ability to operate where regulatory rigor meets rapid iteration, alongside people who have already done the job the software aims to augment.

Today, we're partnered with some of the largest lenders in the country and have handled more than 5 million customer interactions, Monumint's LinkedIn Strategic Advisor posting reported. The compensation for those roles tells its own story.

What the roles pay

Monumint's public compensation data comes from its Y Combinator job postings, eight salaried roles with explicit bands. The spread runs from $75,000 (Enterprise SDR) to $325,000, Zero G Talent's data shows (Head of Sales, Enterprise AE), with a median of approximately $200,000 across the eight roles. Zero G Talent's board data shows a band of $110,000–$325,000 with a median of $225,000 for eight salaried roles. That band reflects a sales-heavy go-to-market organization layered with technical roles that sit closer to the middle.

The top of the market belongs to revenue leadership and enterprise quota-carriers. Head of Sales and Enterprise Account Executive both post at $275,000–$325,000, Zero G Talent reported. Mid-Market Account Executive sits a step down at $225,000–$275,000. These three roles alone define the upper quartile of the company's disclosed pay.

Engineering compensation clusters lower. Senior Software Engineer lists at $200,000–$250,000, Zero G Talent found. Forward Deployed Engineer and Full Stack Engineer share a $150,000–$200,000 band, Zero G Talent's figures put. Content Marketing Lead posts at $125,000–$175,000. The gap between the highest-paid sales role and the highest-paid engineering role is about $75,000 at the top of each band — a structure that signals where Monumint's near-term growth lever sits.

Role Salary band (USD/year) Equity band
Head of Sales $275,000 – $325,000 0.10% – 0.50%
Enterprise Account Executive $275,000 – $325,000 0.10% – 0.50%
Mid-Market Account Executive $225,000 – $275,000 —
Senior Software Engineer $200,000 – $250,000 0.50% – 1.50%
Forward Deployed Engineer $150,000 – $200,000 0.50% – 1.50%
Full Stack Engineer $150,000 – $200,000 0.50% – 1.50%
Content Marketing Lead $125,000 – $175,000 0.10% – 0.50%
Enterprise SDR $75,000 – $125,000 —

The Head of Sales posting on LinkedIn specifies a 50/50 base/commission split for the $275,000–$325,000 OTE. The YC postings disclose equity bands for all roles but do not detail commission targets, accelerators, refresh policies, or vesting schedules. Benefits detail appears in the Head of Sales posting (medical/dental/vision, daily lunch stipend, unlimited PTO, team offsites) but is not standardized across postings. Candidates should ask for the full offer package — including strike price, 409A valuation timing, and any clawback provisions, before comparing to peers.

What the postings don't show is how Monumint evaluates candidates for those bands.

The hiring process: what we know and what we don't

Monumint has not published its hiring process. No careers page documents stages, a Shadow Day, or an offer rate. Descriptions of a four-step funnel with a 10% offer rate circulating online belong to Monument Consulting and Monument Health, different companies.

What the board data confirms: eight salaried roles in San Francisco across six titles, with posted bands in the same range. That functional split — three sales tiers, three engineering tiers, plus SDR and marketing, shapes what a credible process must evaluate.

For the sales track, the postings show three distinct levels. The Head of Sales role adds team-building, forecasting rigor, and cross-functional alignment with product and finance. Enterprise and Mid-Market AE postings both require three-plus years but do not publicly differentiate further. The SDR role requires one-plus years.

On the engineering side, the band separates Senior Software Engineer ($200k–$250k) from Forward Deployed and Full Stack Engineers ($150k–$200k each). The senior role implies system-design ownership, mentorship, and architectural trade-off discussions; the forward-deployed role adds customer-facing implementation and rapid prototyping; the full-stack role emphasizes shipping product features end-to-end.

The company is hiring eight people across six titles, a ratio suggesting each opening is a net-new, strategic seat rather than volume backfill. Until Monumint publishes its own process, the board data is the only public signal — roles, location, pay. The office those hires will walk into sits in San Francisco.

Inside the San Francisco office

Monumint's San Francisco headquarters is the only workspace the company lists. Its LinkedIn profile places HQ in San Francisco, and every role on Zero G Talent's board carries the same location: San Francisco, CA, US. With a reported headcount of 2–10 employees, the physical footprint is small.

A voice-AI company selling to banks, credit unions, and lenders needs rooms where sales calls run without bleed, where demo environments stay stable, and where compliance-sensitive conversations (recorded, transcribed, and later reviewed for model improvement) stay contained. Monumint's agents operate across voice, SMS, and email and "take action inside the systems financial institutions already work out of," which implies engineering workstations with access to sandboxed core-banking APIs and telephony infrastructure.

The job posting for Head of Sales calls out "daily lunch stipend, order whatever you want" and "epic team offsites (e.g., NYC, Topgolf, Tahoe weekends)" as benefits. The lunch stipend suggests a kitchen or common area large enough for the team to eat together most days, a cultural anchor for a group the company says it is "building in person." Offsites extend the workspace beyond the lease line. CEO Tyler Maran appeared on stage at LEND360 in Austin (October 2026) and the team attended Money20/20 in Las Vegas the same month, conference travel functioning as a mobile extension of the office for both selling and recruiting.

What the public record does not specify is the exact address, square footage, floor plan, or lease terms. No photos of the interior appear in the sources, and the company's own site (monumint.org) describes a separate memorial-services business operating in Massachusetts, New England, and New York, a different entity despite the shared name. The San Francisco workspace remains opaque in the data. What can be said with confidence is that the space exists to support a high-velocity, compliance-aware, sales-led motion. The next time Monumint posts a role on this board, the location field will still read San Francisco.

The office shape reflects the team it houses, and the traits that survive there.

Who thrives here

Monumint does not publish employee-satisfaction surveys, tenure analyses, or culture decks. The research available to this guide contains no first-person accounts from current or former staff describing what separates the people who stay from the ones who leave. That absence is itself a data point: early-stage companies that prioritize sales velocity and technical depth often treat culture as an emergent property rather than a documented one.

What we can infer comes from the role taxonomy. The board data shows a split workforce: three sales titles carrying a $275k–$325k band, and three engineering titles spanning $150k–$250k. That structure suggests two distinct success profiles operating in parallel.

On the sales side, the presence of both enterprise and mid-market motions implies the company needs people who can navigate long, multi-stakeholder cycles and others who can close higher-velocity deals with less hand-holding. The Head of Sales role at the top of the band signals that Monumint is still building its go-to-market playbook.

On the engineering side, the Forward Deployed Engineer role is the tell. That title typically means engineers who sit with customers, translate product gaps into code, and ship fast in messy environments. It selects for comfort with ambiguity, willingness to write throwaway code, and the communication skill to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical buyers.

The salary band itself — $75k floor to $325k ceiling across eight roles is wide for a team this size. That spread usually reflects a compensation philosophy that rewards outcomes over leveling matrices. People who negotiate well at offer stage and then deliver measurable revenue or product impact tend to move up the band quickly. People who expect annual cost-of-living adjustments tied to a grade often stall.

No research identifies specific tenure milestones or promotion patterns. The company's San Francisco headquarters means the cohort is local or willing to relocate, which filters for Bay Area cost-of-living tolerance and in-person collaboration preference. Remote-first candidates have historically opted out.

Until Monumint publishes attrition data, employee Net Promoter Scores, or even a careers page with values language, any trait list beyond "handles ambiguity," "ships in customer-facing contexts," and "operates without a mature process" is speculation. The team that shipped Zerox to 11,000 stars is now hiring eight people to put voice AI in front of compliance officers. The code is public. The hires are next.
