Careers at Mintlify: Teams, Pay and How to Get Hired

By Elena Petrova

What the Job Board Reveals

Mintlify's open roles list 22 salaried positions as of August 2026, with a band of $125,000 to $374,000 and a median of $250,000, and almost no engineering, product, or design posts among them. The company runs from San Francisco with a second hub in New York, a split that shows up directly in the current listings: Enterprise Account Executives and Senior Solutions Engineers in both cities, with a Head of People and Head of Finance anchored in San Francisco. Sales and pre-sales distributed across the two coasts; corporate functions kept near the product.

The functional mix is narrower than a typical Series B startup's. The titles cluster in four areas: enterprise sales, pre-sales solutions engineering, people operations, and finance leadership. Absent from the public record: postings for core engineering, product management, design, or research. An August 2026 product walkthrough features a knowledge engineer maintaining Mintlify's own docs and contributing to agentic features, confirming at least one technical documentation specialist on staff. But Mintlify publishes no org chart, and 22 advertised roles likely represent a slice of a larger team.

TechCrunch reported an 11-person headcount in September 2024, the same month the Series A closed: $18.5 million led by Andreessen Horowitz, with Bain Capital Ventures and Y Combinator participating, bringing total capital raised to $21.7 million. The jump from 11 to at least 22 posted roles in under two years suggests measured growth, not a hiring sprint.

Who Runs the Hiring Philosophy

Han Wang and Hahnbee Lee are both software engineers who met while building Pe•ple, a community platform acquired by Tribe in early 2021. Wang previously co-founded Foodful, a cloud monitoring system for livestock. Both studied at Cornell — Wang in information science, Lee in computer science — and Wang later spent time as a partner at Bain Capital Ventures before starting Mintlify. That investor-operating experience shows in the board's composition: the first post-Series A hires are a Head of People and a Head of Finance, carrying compensation bands that top out at $375,000 and $365,000 respectively.

The product itself, a documentation platform serving 20,000+ companies, 300 million human visitors, and 2 billion agent requests annually, demands engineering depth the public postings don't reveal. Mintlify's GitHub shows an official documentation repository updated August 28, 2026, and a starter template with 1,900 stars. The platform handles API references, SDK docs, chatbots powered by OpenAI's API, automated stale-content detection, and the new Index product that routes agent queries across the technical web. Building and maintaining that stack requires more than the four functional areas currently advertised.

What the hiring data shows is a company staffing its commercial and operational layers first, while the technical core stays off public job boards. Candidates looking for engineering, product, or research roles at Mintlify won't find them listed. They'll need to track the company's blog, LinkedIn, or GitHub activity for signals that the technical team is expanding.

The Pay, in One Glance

The company has grown to 50 to 65 people by mid-2026, per a third-party review. The Series B, led by Andreessen Horowitz and Salesforce Ventures, pushed total funding past $45 million, giving Mintlify the runway to price roles at Bay Area leadership rates.

Six roles carry posted ranges. All figures are annual base salary in U.S. dollars.

Role Location Salary Range (USD/year)
Enterprise Account Executive New York City $380,000 – $380,000
Enterprise Account Executive San Francisco $190,000 – $380,000
Head of People San Francisco $260,000 – $375,000
Head of Finance San Francisco $265,000 – $365,000
Senior Solutions Engineer – Pre Sales New York City $250,000 – $315,000
Senior Solutions Engineer – Pre Sales San Francisco $250,000 – $315,000

Two patterns stand out. The Enterprise Account Executive role carries the widest spread, $190,000 to $380,000 in San Francisco versus a flat $380,000 in New York, suggesting the SF posting may encompass a broader seniority ladder while the NYC listing reflects a specific, high-urgency hire. The two Head-of roles and the Senior Solutions Engineer positions sit in a tight $250,000–$375,000 corridor, consistent with the board's reported median. No engineering, product, or design roles carry public ranges.

What the board does not show: equity grant sizes, refresh policies, sign-on bonuses, or variable compensation structures for the sales and solutions roles. Benefits, remote-work stipends, and refresh cadence are also absent from the public record.

For candidates, the takeaway is straightforward. Mintlify pays at or above market rates for comparable Bay Area and NYC startup roles, especially in go-to-market and functional leadership. Engineers and designers should expect offers calibrated to the same band, but without posted ranges the negotiation starts from opacity. Ask for the equity percentage, the 409A valuation, and the refresh schedule before the final round. Those numbers are not on the board, and the company has not volunteered them.

A Process the Company Hasn't Published

Mintlify lists open roles on its careers page and on boards including Zero G Talent. Beyond the postings and the compensation ranges they disclose, the company has not published a structured description of its interview stages, evaluation rubrics, or decision timeline.

No public blog post, engineering write-up, or founder interview in the available record breaks down the sequence from application to offer. The research surfaces no details on phone screens, take-home assignments, live coding sessions, system-design reviews, or panel interviews. There is no documented evidence of a dedicated recruiting team, a hiring committee, or a founder-review step for every candidate. LinkedIn activity confirms active hiring (designers and design engineers were explicitly sought in 2026), but the mechanics of how a candidate moves through the funnel remain undisclosed.

What can be inferred comes only from the founders' background and the product itself. Wang and Lee went through Y Combinator's Winter 2022 batch after eight pivots, a trajectory that suggests a hiring bar shaped by shipping velocity, product intuition, and comfort with ambiguity. But inference is not policy. The company has not confirmed whether it prioritizes prior documentation-tool experience, open-source contributions, or specific language expertise.

The absence of process transparency is not unique to Mintlify; many early-stage companies treat hiring as an evolving practice rather than a codified one. For candidates, the practical takeaway: the only verifiable entry points are the public job listings and the careers page at mintlify.com/careers. Anyone seeking detail on interview format, timeline, or selection criteria will need to ask directly during initial contact.

Two Offices, One Anchor

Mintlify lists exactly two permanent office locations on its careers page, and both show up consistently across job postings and third-party profiles through 2026. The company describes its headquarters as San Francisco, with a second office in New York City. The location tags on recent Zero G Talent roles (Enterprise Account Executive, Head of People, Head of Finance, Senior Solutions Engineer) tie to one of the two.

San Francisco is the office Mintlify leans on most publicly. A third-party review noted that most roles through mid 2026 were based in person out of the San Francisco office, which points to it functioning as the primary hub for engineering, product, and leadership. The benefits package includes daily meals at the office, a sign of a physical workspace large enough to support regular in-person staffing rather than a sparse satellite setup. Mintlify also advertises a yearly company offsite, which typically gathers the full team and reinforces San Francisco as the anchor.

New York City appears as the second office, primarily supporting sales and customer-facing roles. The Enterprise Account Executive listing on Zero G Talent is explicitly tagged to New York City, and other go-to-market positions carry the same label. That split lines up with how Mintlify has structured its commercial team as it scaled past 50 employees in 2026: engineering and product centralized in San Francisco, revenue-facing roles closer to East Coast clients and prospects.

What the research does not say: how large either office is, what the physical setup looks like, or whether one is a dedicated headquarters versus a shared space. Neither office shows signs of being a recent or temporary addition, and neither appears to be fully remote-friendly for the roles Mintlify is actively filling. The day-to-day arrangement remains undisclosed until candidates reach the interview stage.

Who Fits the Product

The strongest signal about who Mintlify wants comes from founder Han Wang's own explanation of the problem the company exists to solve. In a 2022 TechCrunch interview, Wang said Mintlify emerged from his and Lee's experiences working with documentation that was incomplete or of the highest quality. He framed documentation as the lifeline for junior engineers and those jumping into new codebases, and as something that helps senior devs save time from explaining their code to others in the future. That framing points to people who have lived inside codebases and struggled with the handoffs between engineering, product, and support.

The company's growth trajectory reinforces that technical orientation. A third-party review placed Mintlify at roughly 50 to 65 employees by mid-2026. Its customer roster (Anthropic, Microsoft, Coinbase, Cursor, Perplexity, Polymarket, Zapier, Fidelity, and others) skews heavily toward engineering-driven organizations. The product itself, built around a docs-as-code workflow using Git, MDX, and pull requests, requires comfort with developer tooling. A third-party review noted that every change goes through Git, MDX and a pull request, which is a real barrier for support teams, marketers or product managers who are not used to that workflow.

The shift toward AI agents has sharpened that focus. Per a Mintlify LinkedIn post, agents accounted for 66% of all docs traffic across Mintlify-hosted sites as of July 2026 — 213 million agent web requests against 105 million human page loads. Direct .md requests grew from a quarter to more than half of machine traffic between February and July 2026. Mintlify Index, launched in August 2026, extends that logic: it provides one universal search over the entire technical web designed to route questions to publisher-maintained documentation so that the agent gets structured, citable context it can use to answer a question or plan the work.

Mintlify's public communications say little about culture, values, or the soft skills it prizes. The careers page and LinkedIn presence emphasize product capabilities and customer wins rather than workplace philosophy.

One indirect glimpse comes from Business Insider's 2026 profile of Wang, which described a culture where internet clout can help your business grow. Wang acknowledged that viral attention from a personal essay resulted in signups and some job applications, and he noted that a lot of the company's investors were excited about the amount of attention they were getting. That suggests Mintlify's leadership pays attention to visibility and growth metrics that extend beyond pure product performance. Whether that translates into hiring preferences for self-promoters or growth-oriented marketers is unclear; the company does not say.

The job board will tell a candidate which teams are hiring, what the company pays, and where the offices sit. It will not tell them how the interview works, what the culture rewards, or who thrives inside it. For a company whose entire product is about making the implicit explicit, the silence on those questions is the most consistent signal on the page.
