Camber Backs Behavioral Health Billing Expansion with $30M Series B and New York Hiring Push
Camber, a New York-based software platform automating healthcare reimbursement for behavioral health providers, raised a $30 million Series B round led by Andreessen Horowitz to expand beyond its core clinical customer base. The round, which included backing from ACME Capital, Craft Ventures, K Ventures, and Y Combinator, brought the company's total funding to $50 million, according to reports by Pulse 2.0 and citybiz.
The 98-person company focuses on reducing administrative overhead for clinicians dealing with complex Medicaid and commercial insurance billing. The Series B funding follows a period of rapid processing volume growth, with the platform handling $2 billion in claims across 90,000 patients in 40 states. Camber is now hiring across engineering, operations, and sales to scale its infrastructure into adjacent care settings.
Automating Claims for Complex Care
Camber builds workflow automation and billing software designed to replace the manual administrative workload that pediatric behavioral health practices face. The company initially targeted clinics treating conditions such as autism, Down syndrome, and depression, where claim denials and administrative requirements create chronic cash-flow delays.
The platform relies on proprietary data models to audit and submit claims, reaching an average 95% first-pass payment rate. By addressing fraud and procedural errors before submission to payers, the software aims to stabilize revenue for clinical practices that otherwise face bankruptcy from unpaid or stalled accounts receivable.
With the new capital, Camber plans to adapt its billing platform to home health services, long-term care facilities, and substance use disorder treatment centers.
Founders and Background
Camber was founded in 2020 by Christophe Rimann, Celina Qi, and Nathan Lee. The team participated in the Y Combinator W21 accelerator batch before building out its New York headquarters.
Rimann serves as chief executive officer. "The healthcare system is plagued by inefficiencies, fraud, and delayed reimbursements," Rimann told Pulse 2.0. "It’s unacceptable that small clinics—the backbone of our healthcare system—are shutting down due to cash flow challenges despite delivering high-quality care."
Qi previously worked as a healthcare consultant at McKinsey & Company and graduated from Harvard in 2019. Together with Lee, the founding group has organized the company's investor syndicate, which counts Soma Capital, Zigg Capital, Darkmode Ventures, Difference Partners, and Maschmeyer Group Ventures among its institutional backers.
David Haber, General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz, noted during the Series B announcement that the firm backed Camber because of its focus on the financial mechanics of care delivery. "With deep fintech expertise and knowledge of how data and automation can reduce administrative burdens in healthcare, Camber is redefining how claims are processed—getting providers paid faster and improving patient access to quality care," Haber said.
