Abacum Launches AI Modeler and Expands Enterprise Go-To-Market Following $60M Series B

By Zero G Talent•

Financial planning and analysis software provider Abacum rolled out Modeler on October 13, 2026, introducing an AI agent that generates working business models directly from natural language prompts and live company data. As reported via PR Newswire, the release marks a push into agentic modeling, allowing finance teams to define requirements through text or imported Excel spreadsheets while the system handles logic mapping and calculations.

The platform targets a chronic pain point inside mid-market and enterprise finance: dependency on isolated spreadsheet owners. According to coverage in TipRanks, Modeler relies on Abacum’s deterministic calculation engine to execute math and outputs line-by-line model logic explanations on demand. Changes and new models require explicit approval from finance operators before being saved into production.

The product launch builds on a stretch of steady expansion. Headquartered in New York with 125 employees, Abacum has raised more than $100 million since its 2020 inception, including a $60 million Series B closed in June 2025 led by Scale Venture Partners, with participation from Atomico, Creandum, Y Combinator, and Cathay Innovation.

Autonomous Business Planning for Mid-Market and Enterprise Finance

Abacum operates an AI-native financial planning platform designed to centralize business data, models, and workflows into a governed system. More than 500 customers across 40 countries—including DISH, Strava, ThoughtSpot, Acorns, and Replit—use the software to handle budgeting, forecasting, and headcount planning.

The software integrates with enterprise systems to replace manual consolidation. Abacum holds ISO/IEC 27001 certification alongside SOC 2 Type II and GDPR compliance, and is the first new FP&A platform admitted to the Built for NetSuite program in over a decade.

To expand its footprint across Europe and the UK, Abacum established a strategic integration with cloud accounting vendor AccountsIQ in August 2026, as reported by FinTech Global. The combined setup connects recordkeeping with forward-looking financial forecasting, serving customers such as investment bank GP Bullhound with automated data pipelines across multi-entity corporate structures.

Founders Rooted in European Tech and Corporate Banking

Abacum was established by two former finance operators who met while completing their MBAs at IESE Business School from 2009 to 2011:

  • Julio Martínez, Co-Founder and CEO, previously served as co-founder and CEO of InnoCells, the digital venture arm of Banco Sabadell. Prior to InnoCells, he worked in corporate and investment banking at Citigroup across New York, São Paulo, and Zurich, and later completed the Stanford Executive Program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
  • Jorge Lluch, Co-Founder, previously served as Chief Operating Officer at TravelPerk, Chief Financial Officer at Goggo Network, Chief Operating Officer at Jazzya Investments, and CFO at biotech startup Overture Life. He also spent earlier career phases at Spanish internet companies Wallapop and Privalia, and serves as an Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at Universitat Internacional de Catalunya.

The leadership team has pursued an operational model centered on revenue efficiency and lean staffing. In an essay published in Fortune, Martínez noted that Abacum tripled revenue without expanding headcount after raising more than $100 million, prioritizing net new ARR and clear ROI trade-offs over organizational padding.

Writing in Crunchbase News, Martínez outlined the company’s internal incentive structure, which ties bonuses across all departments to enterprise targets. Abacum offers variable compensation of approximately 20% business-wide, pegged directly to Net New ARR to align functional teams with company revenue outcomes.

Hiring Priorities Across Customer Delivery, Sales, and Strategy

Following the launch of Modeler and the expansion of its enterprise integrations, Abacum lists 14 open roles across its New York headquarters, regional offices in Barcelona and Buenos Aires, Toronto, and remote US locations.

The hiring focuses heavily on post-sales implementations and client architecture. Abacum is recruiting Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) specialists globally to deploy its software, opening listings for a Professional Services Manager in the US, alongside matching deployment roles in Barcelona, Buenos Aires, and a technical Finance Solutions Engineer - EPM post in Toronto.

Commercial expansion accounts for another major share of open requisitions. The go-to-market team is recruiting an Enterprise Account Executive - North America, a Senior Partner Account Manager to support its software ecosystem, and regional sales positions covering EMEA and the DACH markets.
