Who We Are
UnitedMasters is building a marketplace that connects artists, brands and fans – empowering artists to earn and grow. UnitedMasters has taken the bold step of building a music distribution service that, radically, puts artists first – disrupting the legacy music business by letting up-and-coming artists distribute their music directly to fans through streaming services while maintaining ownership of their master recording rights and up to 100% of royalties. Through the combination of UnitedMasters’ music distribution platform and its deep ties to brands, UnitedMasters enables independent artists and change-makers to grow and earn unlike any other platform.
The UnitedMasters team is made up of musicians, marketers, engineers, and storytellers with backgrounds from YouTube, SoundCloud, Pandora, Facebook, Uber, Dropbox, Complex, VICE, and more. We work hand in hand with the award-winning creative teams that forge those innovative partnerships at Translation (our in-house creative advertising agency).
We are looking for a Commerce & Artist Marketing Coordinator to join UnitedMasters! Please note that this role is a Hybrid role: four days in office and one day remote.
The Role
As a Commerce & Artist Marketing Coordinator, you will help make sure our artists’ music lands in front of the right audiences and their physical product reaches the fans who want it. You will support the Commerce team as the day-to-day connective tissue between UnitedMasters and our DSPs: Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and others — keeping pitch calendars, release grids and editorial follow-ups running on time, and tracking what placements actually delivered. Alongside that, you will help coordinate physical products: vinyl, CDs and special collector formats, from manufacturing timelines through inventory and retail distribution.
Beyond the commerce remit, you will serve as a coordination point for the broader Music team — running the logistics behind our recurring team and leadership meetings, supporting our Artist Management team on high-priority administrative needs, and helping bring our label events and partner presentations to life. This is a role for someone who is energized by being the person who keeps a lot of moving parts on the rails.
This is an entry-level role built for someone who wants to learn the commercial engine of the music business from the inside while working directly alongside our artist management and label leadership. You will sit close to the decisions that determine how an independent release performs, and the relationships and instincts you build here with DSP partners and our artist-facing teams are the foundation of a career in music.
What You’ll Do
Commerce & DSP
- Prepare and maintain the DSP pitch calendar for upcoming releases, ensuring every priority release is submitted on time and with complete, compelling supporting materials.
- Assemble release assets, artist context and performance data for editorial submissions across Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and emerging platforms, and draft supporting pitch copy in partnership with the Commerce lead.
- Track playlist adds, editorial placements and store features across all DSP partners, and maintain a shared record the Commerce and Artist Marketing teams can rely on.
- Pull and format weekly and post-release performance reporting from DSP partner portals, flagging trends, wins and misses to the Commerce lead.
- Support partner meetings and DSP check-ins by building agendas and one-sheets, taking thorough notes, and driving follow-up items to completion.
- Maintain a monthly roundup of DSP product changes, new pitch tools and editorial priorities for the broader team.
Physical Product
- Coordinate physical product timelines for vinyl, CD and special collector formats — tracking manufacturing milestones, test pressings, approvals and in-stock dates against release dates.
- Support inventory and retail distribution tracking, surfacing stock, reorder and sell-through issues to the Commerce lead and our manufacturing and distribution partners.
Music Team Coordination
- Coordinate the Music team’s recurring meetings — including the weekly Artist Marketing meeting and the full Music Team meeting — owning agenda and deck preparation, notes, and follow-up to completion.
- Provide administrative support to the Artist Management team for our highest-priority artists, including payment requests, contracting workflow and travel coordination.
- Keep Brand Partnerships and Sync current on artist marketing activity through shared calendars, decks and marketing collateral.
- Support the planning and execution of UnitedMasters label events and partner presentations, from run-of-show through day-of logistics.
Across Both
- Set up vendors, process invoices and keep budget trackers current for DSP campaigns, physical product runs and artist management requests.
- Partner with Artist Marketing, Creative and Artist Relations to align commerce moments with release and campaign plans.
- Organize, catalog and distribute release assets and metadata so partners always have what they need, when they need it.
Who You Are
- A genuine fan of music with real curiosity about how releases actually perform. You follow charts, playlists and drops because you want to.
- Entry-level familiarity with the music streaming landscape and how DSPs surface and program music.
- Comfortable in DSP partner portals — Spotify for Artists, Apple Music for Artists, Amazon Music for Artists — or able to get up to speed on them quickly.
- Solid working knowledge of Excel or Google Sheets: you can build and maintain a tracker, use basic formulas, and turn a raw export into something readable.
- Experience with project management tools or clear aptitude for keeping many moving deadlines organized in one system.
- Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented, with the discipline to hold a calendar of dates that cannot slip.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write a clear, persuasive pitch.
- Strong meeting craft — you can build a clean agenda, capture what actually mattered, and chase follow-ups until they are closed.
- Genuine comfort with high-touch administrative work in service of senior stakeholders and top-priority artists.
- Discretion and sound judgment. You will be close to artist contracts, payments and travel, and to leadership-level conversations.
- A self-starter who can own weekly recurring tasks independently while taking direction from multiple stakeholders across Commerce, Artist Marketing and Artist Management — and who is comfortable asking which priority wins when two deadlines collide.
- A team player who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and known as the resourceful, positive person others want to work with.
- Interest in the operational and commercial mechanics of a music release, from editorial pitching to what it takes to get vinyl into a fan’s hands.
Our Values
- We Get on the Plane Entrepreneurial spirit means fully committing to the journey not just having the idea.
- We Expect Challenge + Respect We constantly challenge each other and the work to reach excellence, always with respect.
- We Are Defined by Our Resilience We stay resourceful, fail fast, keep getting better, and never quit on our mission or our team.
- We Pursue Answers Before the Question Has to Be Asked We understand our customers so well that we anticipate what they need before they ask.
- We Run Towards Darkness We have the courage to work through uncertainty rather than settling for an easier, inferior plan.
- We Know What We Don’t Know We bring confidence in what we do know, and honesty about what we don’t.
