Job Description
Trata hosts unique buyside conversations pertaining public markets between analysts and portfolio managers who manage billions in AUM. We’re working to kill Bloomberg chat and win this market.
Users request calls on a ticker (demand) and make themselves available for calls (supply). We win when daily supply meets demand and the call actually happens. To grow, we must increase both supply and demand.
We’re backed by Y Combinator, Walter Kortschak (SignalFire, Summit Partners), Pioneer Fund, and 10+ hedge funds. The team has worked at xAI, IMC Trading, Instagram, McKinsey, and Evercore.
The Role
We’re hiring a Marketplace Operations Manager to join us in person in Hudson Yards, NY. We’re at seed-stage and are a team of 6.
You will immediately own the core process underlying our business: match, schedule, moderate, and process calls. You learn the process by doing it.
Over time, as you understand the product and the users, you take on the work that grows the marketplace: relationships with high-value users, metrics that move the needle, automations and product features and that remove bottlenecks.
You will lean processes by doing it and work directly with engineering and GTM along the way.
What You’ll Do
Now
- Own matching, outreach, scheduling, moderation, and post-call processing between users on a ticker.
- Understand the current process by doing it. Then streamline it. Then automate it independently and with engineering.
- Treat onboarded users like a working list: follow up, reactivate quiet supply, fill demand that would otherwise die.
- Establish and run pre- and post-call compliance so volume can rise without breaking trust.
- Keep transcription and post-call processing on time. Manage contractors as volume moves.
Over Time
- Grow call engagement: activation, retention, and completed calls per week.
- Own the scorecard (requests → outreach → reply → confirm → completed call → repeat use) and find the metric we’re missing.
- Run experiments on call type, ask, and timing. Keep what improves completed calls or quality.
- Build relationships with high-value users.
- Automate workflows and collaborate with engineering to scope product features and relieve bottlenecks
Who You Are
- 2-5 years of working experience doing high-ownership operational work where you personally produced transactions (a match, a call, a booked meeting, etc)
- High ownership: you take problems from discovery to measurable impact.
- High agency: few people, unclear processes. You find a way through.
- You work in the weeds first, then write the playbook, then automate, then iterate.
- You leverage AI for speed while maintaining rigorous understanding.
- You are based in NYC or willing to relocate—we work 55-65 hours a week
Why Join Us
- Rare Opportunity: own the core processes underlying our product with significant expansion potential beyond buy-side analysts.
- Gain founding experience: a high-upside scaling startup that has yet to scale its team headcount. You contribute to defining operations and direction
- High autonomy in determining 0→1 operations
- $120-150k base salary + equity
- Health, dental, and vision insurance + all meals covered
Interview Steps
- Screen — 30 minutes
- Operations working session — 1 hour (we will work together on a relevant case study)
- Onsite and Meeting with CEO (in office if you’re in New York; virtual otherwise)
- Offer
Let us know of any timelines and we can complete all steps under a week
