Job Description

Stuut is transforming accounts receivable for B2B companies—making collections smarter and faster for companies that have historically relied on manual processes that are labor intensive and costly. Our platform is gaining traction with finance teams across industrials, chemicals, and manufacturing sectors from Fortune 10 brands to scaling midmarkets. We're backed by top-tier investors including a16z, Khosla, Activant, 1984 Ventures, Page One and Microsoft.

Private Equity Partnerships, Associate

The Role

This is not a standard BDR job and we are not looking for a standard BDR.

Private equity is one of Stuut’s highest-converting channels. Sponsors have working-capital mandates, portfolio companies with real AR pain, and the ability to introduce us across an entire book at once. The bottleneck is coverage: there are thousands of sponsors, tens of thousands of portfolio companies, and reading a portfolio well enough to know which three portcos actually have the problem we solve is analytical work, not list-pulling work.

That’s the job. You’ll own the top of the private equity funnel end to end: mapping sponsor books, triaging portfolios against our ICP, finding the operating partner or portco CFO who owns the problem, and getting the first meeting. You’ll work alongside Henry, our PE Partnerships Lead, who takes the relationship from there, and you’ll graduate into running those conversations yourself as you ramp.

We think the right person is roughly two years into a finance career and wants out of the deal-execution seat: a deal sourcing or business development associate at a PE firm, an investment banking analyst, a transaction services analyst, or someone selling data and services into the sponsor community. You already know what an operating partner is, what a value creation plan does, and why a CFO at a newly-acquired industrial cares about DSO. We are not going to teach you that. We will teach you how to sell.

Being straight with you about the trade: this is a sourcing and outreach role. You will send a lot of cold emails, you will hear no far more often than yes, and the first six months are grind. In exchange, you will build first-name relationships with operating partners and portfolio ops leaders across 100+ sponsors inside two years, which is more sponsor surface area than you would touch as an associate at a single fund. People who are good at this become Managers on this team, move into PE business development, or go operate. All three are real. We’d rather tell you that now than discover in month four that you wanted a different job.

What You’ll Do

  • Map and tier sponsor books: which firms fit Stuut’s thesis, which portcos inside them have real order-to-cash pain, and which are noise. This is the analytical core of the role

  • Find the right person at each target: operating partner, portfolio ops lead, portco CFO or Controller. Not the most senior name, the one who owns the problem

  • Write and send the outreach. Cold email, LinkedIn, warm paths through our existing sponsor relationships and reference customers. You write your own copy; we do not use a template library

  • Book and prep first meetings for Henry, with a written brief on the sponsor, the portco thesis, and the specific angle

  • Run first meetings yourself as you ramp, starting with lower-tier sponsors, working up

  • Own HubSpot hygiene for the PE channel: firm records, portco associations, deal sourcing attribution, and stage tracking. If it isn’t in HubSpot correctly it didn’t happen

  • Build the portfolio research engine: repeatable ways to triage a book fast, including AI-assisted workflows. If you’re doing the same manual research twice, automate it

  • Pull the account and portfolio research that supports live deals, sponsor meetings, and conference prep

  • Feed the pattern back: which sponsor types convert, which portco profiles buy, which angles land. You will see more sponsors than anyone else on the team

You Might Be a Fit If You…

  • Have roughly 1 to 3 years in private equity deal sourcing or business development, investment banking, transaction services, or selling into the sponsor community

  • Understand fund structures, hold periods, value creation plans, and sponsor-to-portco dynamics well enough to hold a five-minute conversation with an operating partner without bluffing

  • Can read a portfolio page and form a fast, defensible view on which three companies have the problem we solve, and say why

  • Write well. Short, specific, no padding. Your cold email sounds like a person who did the work, not a sequence

  • Are genuinely comfortable with rejection at volume. You have done work where most of the answers were no, and you kept going

  • Are AI-native. You already use AI to compress research and would rather build the workflow than repeat the task

  • Want to learn commercial skills, take coaching directly, and are honest about what you don’t know yet

  • Live our core values: Face the Bear, Think Independently, Hard Work Creates Room, and Stand In Front Of The Truck For Your Customer

Compensation

  • Top-of-market salary and equity package

  • Benefits (for U.S.-based full-time employees)

  • Medical, dental & vision insurance coverage for you

  • 401(k) & Match

  • Equity

  • Flexible PTO

  • Parental Leave
