Job Description

About Roame

Roame is Google Flights for points and miles. We search 180+ airlines across 28+ loyalty programs and return real-time award availability in about twelve seconds — something that used to take our founders dozens of hours of manual searching across a dozen browser tabs.

The core search is free. Our membership unlocks the serious tooling on top of it. We just shipped hotel stays: members book hotels through Roame and get our commission rebated back to them immediately. For most people, one booking pays for the membership.

We're small, we ship constantly, and the points community is unusually good at noticing when someone builds them something good.

We're also profitable. That's rare for a consumer startup our size and it changes what this job is. We're not launching to manufacture momentum ahead of a raise, and we're not going to run out of money and quietly cut marketing in nine months. We launch because launching repeatedly is the only way consumer products stay alive — and because we can afford to pay someone well for doing it out of revenue rather than runway.

The role

Consumer products don't grow off one launch. They grow off launching again and again — every ship being a reason for someone to look at you a second time. Right now we ship faster than we tell anyone about it. That's the job.

You'll own the cadence: taking work that's already shipped and turning it into something people talk about, then doing it again next month, and the month after. This is not a brand guidelines job. On any given day you might be on camera explaining a rebate, in a Reddit thread answering a skeptic, on the phone with a member who churned, or arguing with us about what to launch next.

We want someone with more energy than us about this. Someone who pushes — who comes in on Monday annoyed that we let three weeks go by without giving anyone a reason to open the app, and who has already drafted the fix. Profitability makes it easy to get comfortable, and the honest reason we're hiring is that we'd rather have someone in the building whose instinct is to keep launching than to protect what we've built.

You need to be a jack of all trades on launching, and then drill down when it counts. A launch touches copy, video, email, the landing page, community threads, creator outreach, and press, and for a while you'll be the only person who touches any of it. So you need to be at least competent at all of them and unbothered about doing the unglamorous parts yourself. But breadth alone isn't enough — every launch has one thing that decides whether it works, and you need to spot which one it is and go genuinely deep on it. Sometimes that means rewriting a headline forty times. Sometimes it means spending a week in the forums understanding why a specific segment doesn't believe our rebate math. Generalist by default, specialist on demand.

What you'll own

  • Launches, end to end. Find the story in a shipped feature, package it, pick the timing, run the distribution. Then unbundle big launches into follow-on beats so the cadence never goes quiet.
  • Being a face of Roame. Short-form video, YouTube, X, Reddit, the forums. Award travel is a community that trusts people, not logos.
  • Talking to members constantly. Support threads, calls, DMs, cancellation conversations. You'll be closer to our users than anyone else here, and you'll carry what you learn straight back into product decisions.
  • Creator relationships across the points and miles world — the bloggers, YouTubers, and newsletter writers our users already read.
  • The numbers. Signups, membership conversion, retention, and rebate volume per launch. We want to know which launches actually moved something and which just made noise.

You might be a fit if

  • You've put something into the world publicly — a channel, a newsletter, an account, a side project with real users — and you can point us to it.
  • You're comfortable on camera and not precious about it. Rough and fast beats polished and late.
  • You write clearly, quickly, and in a human voice.
  • You're genuinely interested in points and miles, or you'll be deep in it inside a week because that's how you are about new things.
  • You'd rather figure out the playbook than be handed one. We don't have one yet — you'll be writing it with us.
  • Remote works for you, but you're relentlessly reachable and move at our pace.
  • You'll push us rather than wait on us. If the launch calendar is empty, you fill it and tell us after.
  • You can do a bit of everything a launch needs — write it, film it, ship the page, work the community — and you know which one to obsess over this time.

Years of experience matter much less to us than slope. If you're early in your career and hungry, apply. If you've never had a marketing title but you've built an audience from nothing, definitely apply.

Probably not a fit if

  • You want a defined channel budget and a quarterly campaign calendar.
  • You'd rather not be on camera.
  • You think of marketing as scheduling posts on top of someone else's work.
  • You're excellent at exactly one channel and would need to hire out the rest. There's no one to hand it to yet.
  • You're broad but never deep. Touching everything lightly is how launches end up forgettable.

Salary Range: $100k-150k, up to 50% contingent bonuses end of year, 0.1-0.5% equity

Skip the cover letter. Send us two things:

  1. A launch you admired — any product, any company — and two sentences on why it worked.
  2. A 60-second video pitching Roame's hotel rebate to someone who has never heard of us. Phone camera, one take, no editing. We're looking at whether you can make a stranger care, not at your production values.

Interview Process

  1. Application Review
  2. Chat with CEO
  3. 1-3 month trial
