Job Description
About Rescript
Rescript is using AI to make the law accessible, transparent, and easy to act on. Laws and regulations differ across jurisdictions and are constantly changing, making them too complex for organizations to review and track manually at scale. We're building an agentic AI platform capable of aggregating and interpreting global regulations, tracking how they change, and identifying how organizations should respond. Our customers span AmLaw100 law firms, Fortune 100 corporations, and top trade associations across healthcare, retail, fintech and more. They depend on Rescript to help them comply with and act on an ever-changing regulatory landscape from the federal level down to individual cities.
We’re an early team backed by Y Combinator, Floodgate, and General Catalyst, with real customer pull and an ambitious product roadmap ahead of us. As a founding engineer, you will be central to defining Rescript's engineering culture, pace of shipping, and product execution. You'll help build the core product, data infrastructure, and AI systems behind our legal and policy intelligence platform. This means owning individual features end-to-end, from customer discovery and initial design to seeking out user feedback, shipping to production, and fixing bugs.
What you'll do:
- Talk to users every week, understand their pain points, and rapidly build and refine solutions.
- Learn to work directly with dense government materials (e.g. legislation, regulations, hearings, etc.) and understand what matters to users.
- Build robust pipelines to turn messy first-party data into structured, reliable inputs for downstream applications.
- Build and evaluate AI agents that can reason over government and customer data to answer user questions.
- Build product experiences beyond chat, including tabular review, search interfaces, document editors, and video tools.
Who you are:
- You've shipped software/AI applications to real users and utilize AI effectively in your own work.
- You have strong attention to detail, with the ability to work across product design, backend, and infra.
- Excited to work and speak directly with (non-technical) customers, with the ability to translate complex needs into clear product and technical specifications.
- Comfortable with ambiguity, moving fast, and taking ownership.
- Interested in the problems that Rescript is solving and learning about law, policy, and government.
About us:
We work in-person at our Washington, DC office and are open to candidates who are willing to relocate. We visit and embed directly with customers, whether they're down the street in DC or across the country. We work hard and enjoy working together. We want Rescript to be a team where you will do the best work of your career while enjoying the journey along the way.
