Job Description
About QualGent
QualGent is the AI-native QA platform that answers the one question every mobile team asks before they ship: "What's wrong with my app that I don't know about yet?"
We're an ex-Google team, YC-backed, and research-driven, building the verification layer that closes the loop on agent-driven software creation, starting with mobile bugs. As more of the app gets written by coding agents, someone still has to catch what they miss before your users do. That's us.
We're a team of 10 that moves fast, ships daily, and uses our own product every day.
"I'm looking for someone who wants to build the go-to-market motion with me, not execute one I've already figured out. If you want to learn what actually gets a mobile team to trust us with their release, and shape the product and pricing based on what you hear, this is that seat." — Shivam, Co-Founder & CEO
The Role
We're hiring our first Founding GTM Lead, someone who becomes a true extension of our CEO on the 0→1 sales motion. Today, that means outbound sales, owning our marketing surfaces, running meetings, and iterating on packaging and pricing until it lands. This isn't a scoped sales job. It's a partner role in building the entire early go-to-market system, and how you grow it is largely up to you.
You'll pick up real GTM ownership from day one: pipeline, message-market learning, and packaging/pricing decisions, with a straight line to owning outbound demand generation, technical proof, and closing as the team scales.
What you'll actually do:
- Run outbound sales end-to-end, autonomously. Prospect, book meetings, take meetings, and close, starting with meetings booked as the north star, growing into full-cycle ownership as you prove you can carry it.
- Own our marketing surfaces. Website, positioning, outbound messaging, case studies, and anything else that turns "why should I care" into "let's talk."
- Shape product packaging and pricing. You'll have real input into how we package and price QualGent, and the product itself, based on what you're hearing in the market. We want someone who thinks like a product person, not just someone who reads a pricing sheet off a slide.
- Turn every conversation into a learning loop. Every qualified conversation should sharpen our view of ICP, message, and product, not just fill a CRM field.
- Be in market. Based in either NYC or SF, the two hubs for consumer/mobile apps we sell into. SF-based also covers Vegas and LA.
What We're Looking For
- Growth potential over pedigree. This role starts in outbound and expands over time. We're hiring for where you can go, not just where you start.
- Experience as a guideline, not a requirement. We're thinking roughly 2–6 years in a sales, GTM, or founding-team role, but our best hires have come from a wide variety of backgrounds. If you're earlier than that, show us the hustle and ownership instead. If you're a lot more senior, be honest with yourself about whether you want the pace and comp of a 10-person team over a bigger title elsewhere.
- A product mindset. You should be comfortable proposing changes to packaging, pricing, or even product scope based on what you're hearing from prospects, and defending those changes with real evidence, not vibes.
- Genuine ownership. You'll operate with founder-level autonomy on your piece of the business. We want someone who wants that, not someone who wants a playbook handed to them.
- Comfort with ambiguity. We're 10 people. There is no fully-built GTM machine to plug into. You're helping build it.
- Technical fluency, or the willingness to get there fast. You'll be selling into engineering and product leaders at mobile-first companies. You don't need to write code, but you need to be able to hold a real conversation about release pipelines, CI/CD, and what "AI QA agent" actually means.
Bonus points:
- Prior experience in a founding or early GTM role at a startup (Sales, GTM, or Growth).
- Experience selling technical products to engineering or product buyers.
- Familiarity with growth engineering / automation for top-of-funnel. We're actively figuring out how much of this lives on the GTM side vs. in-house engineering, and your perspective here is welcome even if it's not the core of the role.
Why This Role, Why Now
This is genuinely early. We believe deeply in the product and where AI-driven QA is headed, but we're still discovering the market together: who buys, why, and what actually closes. That's exactly the opportunity. Come build this with us from the ground up, own a real piece of the company's future, and help us figure out what it looks like to own product verification for the agent era.
Compensation: $90,000–$130,000 base salary + meaningful equity, exact offer based on fit and impact potential.
Location: NYC or SF (SF-based candidates also cover Vegas and LA).
Interview Process
I’ll ask you 2 things:
- How you’re going to get meetings. We’ll do some simulations based on real experience.
- Sell me the product. I’ll use real questions prospects & customers have asked
You won’t know everything. But the thinking behind the answers will reveal a lot.
