About PoloTab

At PoloTab, we're building the technology that powers the next generation of restaurants across Latin America.

Restaurants are incredibly complex businesses, yet much of the technology available to them is fragmented, outdated, or unnecessarily difficult to use. We're changing that by building an integrated platform that helps restaurants operate more efficiently, serve their customers better, and grow their businesses.

From point-of-sale systems and payments to kitchen operations, inventory, and business management, we're building products that restaurant teams rely on every single day.

We're a fast-growing, YC-backed startup with ambitious goals and a team that cares deeply about building exceptional products.

About the Role

We're looking for a Product Designer who thinks like a Product Manager and executes like a world-class designer.

At Polo, we don't have a traditional product organization where Product Managers define requirements, designers create mockups, and engineers implement them.

Instead, our Product Designers and Product Engineers share ownership of the product. Together, they identify problems, talk to customers, define solutions, prioritize opportunities, and ship improvements.

As a Product Designer, you won't simply receive tickets asking you to design a screen. You'll be expected to understand our customers, challenge assumptions, identify opportunities, and help decide what we should build—and what we shouldn't.

You'll own the design process from discovery through implementation, working closely with engineers to turn complex operational challenges into intuitive, thoughtful, and delightful experiences.

This is a hands-on role with real ownership, high autonomy, and direct impact on thousands of people using our products every day.

What You'll Do

Own Product Problems, Not Just Designs

  • Work directly with customers, restaurant operators, and internal teams to understand their workflows, frustrations, and needs.
  • Identify product opportunities, define problems, and help prioritize what we build.
  • Challenge feature requests and dig deeper to understand the underlying customer problem.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineers to define product requirements, scope solutions, and make tradeoffs.
  • Think critically about business impact, technical feasibility, and user experience when making decisions.
  • Follow your work beyond launch, learning from customer feedback and product usage to continuously improve the experience.

Design Exceptional Product Experiences

  • Own the end-to-end design process, from early exploration and user flows to polished interfaces and shipped features.
  • Simplify complex workflows into intuitive experiences that feel effortless to use.
  • Design across multiple platforms, including web applications, tablets, handheld devices, and payment terminals.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs to explore and communicate solutions.
  • Build, maintain, and evolve our design system to ensure consistency and quality across products.
  • Pay close attention to interaction design, usability, visual hierarchy, and the small details that make a product exceptional.
  • Work closely with engineers throughout implementation to ensure the final experience meets a high standard of quality.

Help Drive Product Strategy

  • Contribute to product direction and prioritization alongside Product Engineers and company leadership.
  • Balance short-term customer needs with long-term product simplicity and scalability.
  • Use qualitative feedback and quantitative data to inform product decisions.
  • Make pragmatic decisions about when to invest in a polished solution and when to validate an idea quickly.
  • Advocate for the customer while understanding the realities of building and operating a fast-growing business.

What We're Looking For

You're a strong fit if:

  • You have demonstrated experience designing and shipping real software products, ideally complex B2B or operational software.
  • You have excellent product intuition and can explain not only how you designed something, but why it needed to exist.
  • You're comfortable navigating ambiguity and turning loosely defined problems into concrete solutions.
  • You have strong UX, interaction design, and visual design skills.
  • You know how to conduct customer interviews, validate assumptions, and translate insights into product decisions.
  • You think in systems and understand how individual features connect to broader workflows.
  • You can balance speed and quality, knowing when to iterate quickly and when details matter.
  • You're proficient in Figma and comfortable collaborating closely with engineers.
  • You communicate clearly, welcome feedback, and can defend your decisions without being attached to your initial ideas.
  • You take initiative, have strong opinions backed by reasoning, and are comfortable being accountable for outcomes.
  • You're excited about spending time with real customers and seeing your designs used in real-world environments.

Bonus Points

  • Experience working as a Product Manager, Product Owner, or founder.
  • Experience at an early-stage startup with significant product ownership.
  • Experience designing POS, fintech, payments, commerce, or restaurant-management software.
  • Experience designing native Android applications or interfaces for dedicated hardware.
  • Ability to prototype with code or use AI-powered development tools to rapidly explore and validate ideas.
  • Experience designing products used in high-pressure, time-sensitive operational environments.

How We Work

We don't believe great products come from assembly lines.

At Polo, product development is a collaborative process where designers and engineers work together from the very beginning.

We believe that:

  • Everyone on the product team owns the product. Product decisions aren't exclusive to someone with a PM title.
  • Customer understanding comes first. Great solutions start with deeply understanding the people who use our software.
  • Simplicity is a competitive advantage. The best solution is often the one that removes complexity rather than adding features.
  • Shipping matters. A beautiful design that never reaches customers creates no value.
  • Quality is everyone's responsibility. We care about the details, from product behavior to the final pixel.
  • Ownership doesn't end at launch. We measure success by problems solved, not tickets closed.

You'll work side by side with Product Engineers, contribute directly to product decisions, and have the autonomy to take ideas from discovery to production.

Why Join Polo?

  • Real ownership: Help shape both what we build and how we build it.
  • Meaningful impact: Your work will directly affect the day-to-day operations of restaurants and their teams.
  • Complex, interesting challenges: Solve problems that combine software, payments, hardware, and real-world operations.
  • High autonomy: Work in a small, ambitious team where your decisions matter.
  • A strong product culture: Collaborate with engineers who care about user experience and share responsibility for product outcomes.
  • An ambitious mission: Help build a defining technology company for restaurants in Latin America.

We're not looking for someone who just makes things look good.

We're looking for someone who can understand a problem, figure out what should be built, design an exceptional solution, and help make it a reality.
