Trust & Safety Ads Operations Analyst, Data
Job Description
About the Team
At OpenAI, Trust & Safety Operations is central to protecting OpenAI’s platform, customers, and the public from abuse. We partner closely with Product, Engineering, Legal, Policy and Go To Market teams to identify emerging risks, build and mature enforcement systems, and ensure high-integrity operations while delivering a great user experience at scale.
We’re building the Monetization Trust & Safety Operations team to ensure OpenAI can grow advertising in a way that is safe, trusted, and sustainable—for users, advertisers, and the business. This team sits at the intersection of operational scale, product risk, and rapid revenue growth, designing systems and operations that enable ads to scale without compromising user trust or safety. It’s critical to us that our Ads product be built in a way that corresponds to our Ads principles, and this team is key to that.
About the Role
We’re looking for a senior operator with strong analytical instincts to help build and scale Monetization Trust & Safety Operations at OpenAI. In this role, you’ll flex across the team’s highest-priority data and operational needs—from reporting and dashboard insights to budget and capacity planning, project-based analysis, and data automation —while partnering closely with Product, Policy, Engineering, Legal, Go To Market, and Data Science and Data Engineering teams.
This role sits at the intersection of strategy, execution, and data: you’ll define ambiguous problems, query and validate data, build decision-support systems, and translate operational signals into clear recommendations and scalable, AI-first solutions. You should be comfortable moving from a high-level question to a rigorous analysis, a useful dashboard, an automated workflow, or a durable operating mechanism.
As OpenAI introduces new revenue-generating formats and partnerships, you’ll help the team understand where risks, capacity constraints, quality gaps, and opportunities are emerging. You’ll bring structure to ambiguity and ensure Ads Trust & Safety decisions are grounded in reliable data while balancing user safety, advertiser experience, and business growth.
In this role, you will:
Own complex, high-impact Ads Trust & Safety data and operational problem areas from scoping through execution.
Improve recurring reporting and dashboards by defining meaningful metrics, surfacing trends and gaps, and translating insights into operational decisions.
Lead budget and capacity planning by connecting demand, review volumes, service levels, quality, and risk signals to staffing and operating plans.
Conduct project-based analyses across advertiser risk, enforcement performance, review quality, product launches, and operational health; turn findings into clear recommendations and next steps.
Partner closely with Data Science and Data Engineering teams to define goals, metric logic, data requirements, source-of-truth decisions, and QA data strategy.
Design and maintain practical data-quality and measurement mechanisms, including sampling, validation, discrepancy investigation, quality dashboards, and feedback loops.
Build and improve automations, AI-assisted workflows, and decision-support tools that reduce manual work and help Ads Trust & Safety and Ads Support scale.
Drive operational readiness for new Ads and monetization launches, features, and markets by sizing impact, identifying risks early, and defining monitoring plans.
Act as a senior cross-functional partner and subject-matter expert, communicating data-driven tradeoffs, priorities, and recommendations with strong judgment and credibility.
You might thrive in this role if you:
8+ years of experience in Trust & Safety, Business Integrity, technical operations, data analytics, or a closely related domain.
Strong SQL skills and comfort working with unfamiliar, complex datasets, reconciling source-of-truth questions, and resolving data-quality issues.
Experience building and owning dashboards, recurring reporting, monitoring, or operational measurement systems from scoping through adoption and maintenance.
Experience using data for budget, capacity, or workforce planning, including translating demand, quality, and service-level signals into practical operating plans.
Proven ability to independently own ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives and turn analysis into decisions, workflows, or scalable systems.
In-depth experience leveraging AI models or agent-based tooling in operational workflows, or other lightweight technical development where useful.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex analyses, data limitations, risk tradeoffs, and recommendations to diverse audiences.
Strong judgment around quality, safeguards, responsible deployment, and the appropriate use of data in high-stakes operational decisions.
Bonus: Familiarity with ads and advertiser ecosystems and the operational signals that shape review, enforcement, and support decisions.
