Technical Lead

OneChronos is building the bazaar for agentic systems. We're starting in capital markets, where our matching markets routinely account for more than 1% of notional U.S. equity market volume. By bringing together auction theory, distributed systems, artificial intelligence, and deep market structure expertise, we help humans and agentic systems transact more efficiently, improve how value is allocated, and build the next generation of market infrastructure.

OneChronos is seeking a Technical Lead to combine deep hands-on engineering with technical leadership. In this role, you'll guide engineers through some of the company's most challenging technical initiatives while remaining an active contributor to the codebase. You'll help shape technical direction, mentor engineers, and partner closely with Engineering leadership to build high-performance systems that are both elegant and resilient.

What You'll Do

• Spend the majority of your time building production software, tackling the most technically challenging problems alongside the engineering team.
• Establish the technical direction for major initiatives, making thoughtful architectural decisions that balance performance, correctness, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
• Lead projects from technical design through production, partnering with engineers to break down complex work into clear, executable milestones.
• Mentor and develop engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, pair programming, and thoughtful feedback, helping raise the technical bar across the team.
• Partner closely with product, Engineering leadership, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into elegant technical solutions.
• Champion engineering excellence through strong software design, testing, operational discipline, and continuous improvement.

Who You Are

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building complex, production-grade systems, including experience leading technical initiatives or engineering teams.
• Passionate about building software and energized by solving difficult technical problems through hands-on engineering.
• Deep proficiency in a systems programming language such as Rust, C++, or Java, with a strong appreciation for writing clean, maintainable code.
• Comfortable working across multiple languages and technologies with a pragmatic, polyglot mindset.
• Strong architectural instincts and experience designing distributed, high performance, and highly concurrent systems.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical projects from concept through production while balancing technical tradeoffs with business priorities.
• Experience mentoring engineers and helping them grow .
• Comfortable making technical decisions in ambiguous environments while bringing others along through clear communication and thoughtful collaboration.
• Strong commitment to software quality, correctness, and operational excellence, with an emphasis on testing, validation, and reliability.
• Familiarity with modern software development practices, including CI/CD, production operations, and incident management.
• Understanding of financial market structure is a plus, though the curiosity and aptitude to quickly learn complex market mechanics is equally valued

Salary Range:  $200,000-$225,000 with eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus. Actual base pay is subject to change, and is dependent upon a number of factors, including work experience, skills and training.
