Why Indemni

Everything you own moved through a chain of strangers before it reached you. Every handoff in that chain is a place where cargo gets stolen, damaged, or lost, and the global supply chain still runs on phone calls and trust.

Indemni's mission is to reduce the surface area of risk in the physical world. We verify who is actually moving freight, control when it gets released, keep the evidence through delivery, and insure what risk remains. And we also sell insurance, which means the software we build prevents the losses we underwrite. No one else in logistics does both under one roof.

We started with U.S. freight brokers moving high-value loads, from AI data center equipment to electronics. Today Indemni runs thousands of verifications for dozens of 3PLs, protecting over $3B in cargo, with volume up 10x since the start of the year. We can insure up to $15M on a single shipment. Next come shippers and carriers, and eventually every party in the supply chain. We want to be the trust layer for logistics, the way Visa is for payments.

We're backed by Y Combinator and started by operators from Flexport, DoorDash, and fraud operations. You'd be building the foundation all of it runs on.

What you'll build

• The release decision. Every load has a rule for which checks must pass before the pickup number unlocks. You'll own the engine that makes that call in seconds. A false release can cost a customer millions. A false hold strands a driver at the dock.
• Driver and equipment verification. CDLs, team drivers, truck, plate, VIN, pickup photos. OCR, document forensics, and matching what showed up against what was booked.
• Proof that verification reduces loss. Build the data and measurement that show our controls lower actual losses, and feed that into how we price and cover risk. Product and underwriting develop together.
• TMS integrations. Get Indemni inside the systems brokers already live in, including the ones with no docs.
• A driver app that works for everyone. A five-year-old Android, one bar of signal, 5am in a truck yard. It still has to work.

You'll ship to production weekly with the founders, visit warehouses and truck yards all over the US, and set the bar for code quality, security, and documentation that every future hire follows.

What we look for, in order

1. Bias for action. Ship over perfect, but you still write the test. The stakes are real.
   A shipper adds a hazmat document check to their pickup requirements. How fast is it live?
2. Product intuition. You ask why before how.
   A broker asks for auto-translated documents. Do we build it now, later, or never, and why?
3. Comfort across the stack. SQL in the morning, API logs in the afternoon, React Native at night if it comes to that.
   A driver can't complete verification because their phone doesn't support the camera flow. What do you do in the next 10 minutes, and what do you ship next week?
4. 5+ years building production systems in Node, serverless, or similar.
   Verification volume goes 10x week over week with the launch of a new customer. What changes in the stack short term vs. long term, and how do you split real-time checks from slow government database lookups?
5. Nice to have: Logistics, TMS/WMS, fraud or risk ML, computer vision, insurance, or hardware (scanners, RFID). If you've heard of McLeod or used a scanner gun, tell us.
