About Epsilab
Epsilab is a YC F26 startup building the training grounds for real-world AI agents. We create high-fidelity reinforcement learning environments that recreate enterprise software, tools, and complex professional workflows, helping agents learn to complete long-horizon tasks.
We’re a fast-growing startup working with frontier AI labs. Our team is extremely flat, fast-moving, and creative: you’ll work directly with the founders, contribute ideas across the company, and take ownership from first experiment to shipped product. We value technical curiosity, clear thinking, and people who turn ambitious ideas into working systems.
About the role
As our Technical Strategic Projects Lead, you’ll own high-priority projects across engineering, research, and delivery. You’ll translate open-ended needs from frontier labs into technical plans, build prototypes and internal tools, and bring engineers and domain experts together to ship reliable RL environments and evaluation datasets.
This is a hands-on role for a builder who enjoys both writing code and leading execution. You’ll help decide what we build next, then get it working.
What you’ll do
- Own technical projects from scoping and success criteria through implementation, quality checks, and delivery.
- Build scripts, prototypes, integrations, and automation that improve environment creation, task generation, and evaluation.
- Work with frontier lab partners to understand research needs, resolve technical questions, and turn feedback into product improvements.
- Coordinate engineers and domain experts to create realistic workflows, reproducible tasks, and clear grading criteria.
- Inspect agent trajectories and project metrics, diagnose bottlenecks, and improve quality and delivery speed.
- Establish lightweight processes that help a growing team move quickly while maintaining technical rigor.
What you’ll bring
- 2+ years of professional experience in software engineering, technical product development, applied AI, or a similarly hands-on technical role.
- Highly agentic: you can independently code and ship your own prototypes and working products, turning ideas into useful tools.
- Strong project ownership: you can break an ambiguous problem into practical milestones and carry it through to completion.
- Excellent communicator who explains complex ideas clearly and keeps the team and customers on the same page.
- Curiosity about AI agents, reinforcement learning, and how to measure real-world model capabilities.
- Initiative, adaptability, and enthusiasm for building in a fast-moving early-stage company.
Helpful experience
RL environments, agent evaluations, developer tools, data pipelines, or shipping projects directly with customers. Finance, consulting, and investing experience are not required.
Location and compensation
- Full-time, US-based hybrid role, with a mix of remote work and in-person collaboration in San Francisco.
- US visa sponsorship available.
- Annual base salary: $105,000–$145,000, based on relevant experience and skills.
