React Native Engineer

Craftwork is building a modern, technology-enabled home services company, starting with residential painting. We employ our painters full-time and manage the entire customer experience using proprietary software, which allows us to consistently deliver excellent quality and service while creating meaningful careers in the trades.

Founded in 2023, Craftwork currently operates in Charlotte and Raleigh, with plans to expand into three new markets over the next 12 months. We’ve grown to nearly 80 employees and have raised over $25M from investors including Y Combinator, Seven Seven Six, Slow Ventures, Forerunner Ventures, General Catalyst, and Lachy Groom.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Craftwork is looking for a React Native Engineer to own and evolve the mobile experience used by our field teams every day.

Our crew mobile app is one of the most important software products in our ecosystem. It sits directly in the hands of our painters and market managers, supporting the workflows they rely on to deliver a consistently great customer experience including project management, customer and team communication, time and attendance, and field execution. As Craftwork expands into new markets, this person will help ensure the app becomes increasingly reliable, intuitive, and capable as the field organization grows.

A central part of this role will be building thoughtful, high-quality mobile experiences in React Native. You’ll work across the full mobile product lifecycle, from understanding how work actually happens in the field, to shaping product solutions, implementing them, shipping them, and continuously improving them based on real usage and feedback.

This is a hands-on, high-ownership engineering role. The right person will care deeply about the people using what they build, spend meaningful time with our crews to understand their workflows, and sweat the details required to make software feel simple in a complex operating environment. The goal is not simply to ship features, but to build a reliable mobile experience that ensures every Craftworker is informed, capable, and effective in the field.

Elevate Mobile Reliability & Performance

• You’ll reduce crashes, bugs, and performance issues across the mobile app through thoughtful engineering practices and proactive technical improvements.
• You’ll implement appropriate testing, monitoring, and observability so that issues across devices and critical field workflows are identified, diagnosed, and resolved quickly.

Raise the Engineering Quality Bar

• You’ll write clean, thoughtful, testable code and contribute to engineering standards that improve the quality of the codebase over time.
• You’ll actively participate in code reviews, technical decisions, and knowledge sharing.
• You’ll help create a culture where quality, maintainability, and thoughtful execution are shared expectations across the engineering team.

Improve Cross-Functional Collaboration
