
Field Service Engineer - 1L YS
Job Description
Introduction
Field Service Engineers at ASML are responsible for servicing our lithography & metrology machines and responsibilities may include the installation, upgrade, qualification, diagnostics, repair, and/or maintenance of those machines at our customer sites. This Field Service Engineer - 1L/first line YS has daily interaction with customer and interfaces often with specific senior engineers/line managers of both internal and external customer. This person will be able to handle most problems on his/her own and independently executes the defined action plans for regular and irregular maintenance activities. The Field Service Engineer will work independently on diagnostics and maintenance, whilst being reviewed on end results.
Roles and responsibilities
Field Service Engineers are ASML’s first line of support and work directly on our machines at customer sites.
The job requirements and duties include, but are not limited to the ability to:
Diagnose and identify root cause and define the action plan for solution.
Execute action plans independently and handle most technical problems on his/her own.
Escalate when needed by providing clear problem statements and technical communication.
Interface regularly with internal and external customers on planning and action progress.
Adhere to safety requirements including pre-work safety assessments and wearing PPE such as respirators, harnesses, hard-toe shoes, bump cap or hard hat, etc.
Hands-on hardware above, beneath, and around machine including ladders and platforms
Properly handle, package, administer, and return parts and tools after work is complete.
Follow back end call handling actions to close all items related to fab actions including paperwork closure, parts returns, fab area cleanup etc to complete action end to end.
Provide continuous improvement such as defect or failure analysis reports, post-mortems, procedure updates, and opportunities for reducing cycle times and costs.
Keep up to date with latest machine changes by continuous learning and training.
Education and experience
Bachelors' degree or equivalent combination of education, skills and experience
Preferred 2 years’ experience in a Customer Support department for high tech products
Preferred 1 year of ASML micro-lithography/metrology system experience

Other information
This role will work compressed work week (12hr shifts, 7am/pm-7pm/am), alternating 3-4 days/week.
Work up to 12 hours in a clean room while wearing a cleanroom Gore-Tex suit and PPE
Travel internationally and domestically for training or cross-site support
Training travel will include an initial 4-week training and may also include further training durations of 2-7 weeks in the first year.
After 25% travel in first year for training - this role is expected to travel about 10% of the year.
Training locations may include Phoenix or San Diego in the US and/or Taiwan, Germany, & the Netherlands
Travel for cross-site support will be based upon business need, durations may vary from several days to several weeks.
Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move around the campus.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
May require travel dependent on business needs.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
