The Systems Engineer II supports requirements development, system verification activities, risk management, and MBSE efforts on MDA-aligned missile defense programs. This role focuses on executing defined systems engineering tasks under the guidance of senior engineers while developing a solid foundation in system-level thinking, technical documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
In this role, the essential functions are:
- Support development and maintenance of system, subsystem, and interface requirements; assist with traceability and compliance efforts.
- Assist in the development of system-level verification plans, procedures, and compliance matrices.
- Support execution of system-level verification activities (e.g., reviews, inspections, and tests)
- Contribute to risk identification, documentation, and tracking; assist in developing mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, including propulsion, software, hardware, test, GNC, quality, and safety.
- Support communication of requirements, verification status, and technical issues with internal teams and stakeholders.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) artifacts using SysML and Cameo/MagicDraw
- Participate in configuration management and change control processes.
- Contribute to preparation for and participation in technical reviews (e.g., SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR)
- Support technical planning activities, including task tracking and status reporting.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related STEM field from an accredited college/university. Master’s degree may substitute for 1 year of experience from an accredited college/university.
- U.S. citizenship is required due to federal contract eligibility.
- Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance
- Familiarity with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) or similar DoD programs preferred.
- Must comply with ITAR regulations.
- Initiative-taking with a willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to a collaborative environment.
- 2 to 4 years of systems engineering experience in DoD, aerospace, or related engineering programs.
- Experience supporting requirements development, verification activities, or risk management.
- Exposure to Missile Defense Agency (MDA) processes or similar DoD program environments preferred.
- Familiarity with MBSE concepts and SysML modeling tools is desirable.
- Experience working in cross-functional engineering teams.
- Familiarity with requirements management tools such as DOORS (or equivalent)
- Basic understanding of SysML diagrams (e.g., block definition, activity, sequence)
- Exposure to MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler (MagicDraw)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with systems engineering lifecycle principles (e.g., INCOSE SE Handbook, MIL-STD-499, EIA-632)
- Ability to support technical risk assessments and documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio)
Preferences:
- Exposure to technical reviews (e.g., SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR) is a plus.
- Basic understanding of system architecture frameworks (e.g., DoDAF) is desirable.
- INCOSE ASEP certification (or working toward certification) is a plus.
- Ability to travel up to approximately 10%.
- Demonstrates strong work ethic, diligence, and commitment to mission success.
The good faith base salary range for this role is $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
