The Plant Superintendent will be located onsite in Minden, LA and reports to the Director of Operations. This role is needed for a PSM and DoD regulated energetic materials and explosives manufacturing operation supporting defense and aerospace customers and is responsible for leading daily production operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing performance while meeting production, quality, and regulatory requirements.

In this role, the essential functions are:

  • Lead and oversee day-to-day production operations and maintenance across all shifts by directing Production Supervisors and operators and ensuring alignment with the production plan
  • Ensure production schedules, staffing levels, and resource requirements are met to support safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing output
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, ensuring strict adherence to SOPs, explosive-handling requirements, and all regulatory and company standards
  • Partner with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and EHS to resolve operational issues, minimize downtime, and ensure consistent product quality and delivery
  • Monitor production performance, analyze KPIs, and drive improvements in throughput, efficiency, and cost
  • Lead and support incident investigations and root cause analyses, ensuring timely and effective corrective actions are implemented
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S, waste reduction, and process optimization to enhance operational performance
  • Coach and develop Production Supervisors, support workforce training and cross-training efforts, and contribute to performance management and staffing decisions

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related technical field with 5 years of experience in manufacturing or industrial operations OR 15 years of relevant experience in chemical manufacturing in lieu of a degree
  2. Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, production planning, and process improvement within an industrial or high-hazard environment
  3. Experience leading and coordinating production activities across multiple shifts, including staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation
  4. Demonstrated ability to lead incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
  5. Proven leadership, communication, and coaching skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and frontline supervisors
  6. Experience leading production operations, projects, or initiatives with measurable impact on safety, quality, and throughput
  7. 2+ years of experience managing teams of supervisors and operators in a manufacturing environment, with responsibility for performance management and development
  8. Ability to operate as a key member of site leadership, aligning production and maintenance execution with business objectives, safety requirements, and operational priorities

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Experience in explosives, energetic materials, or PSM regulated manufacturing environments
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification (e.g., Green Belt or higher)

Travel, Physical and/or Government Mandated Requirements:

  • Travel up to 2%, including the possibility of overnights within the USA
  • Ability to lift, move or carry items or equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for extended periods in an outdoor industrial environment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain State and Federal explosives licenses
  • Candidates must meet all eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain applicable state and federal explosives licenses, including minimum age requirements (21 and over), a drug-free workplace in compliance with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988 (41 U.S.C. §§ 8101–8106), Executive Order 12564 (Drug-Free Federal Workplace), applicable Department of Defense directives including DoD Instruction 1010.09 and DFARS 252.226-7003 and successful completion of any legally required background investigations.
  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

The good faith base salary range for this role is $80,000 – $120,000 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
