Forward Deployed Engineer
Job Description
We’re hiring a rockstar FDE.
If you want to define the future of how AI-native CPG brands operate, apply here!
🚀 The Opportunity
Corvera is the AI agent workforce for CPG back-office.
Ever wondered how your favorite food and beverage brands end up on retailer shelves? Today, every CPG brand runs on humans stitching together emails, spreadsheets, ERPs, and retailer portals. It’s slow, error-prone, and fundamentally unscalable, with headcount growing almost linearly with revenue.
Corvera replaces that with an AI workforce, helping brands increase their profits by up to 40% and grow faster than they could imagine.
This isn’t another plug-and-play SaaS tool. We’re building the AI-native operating system designed first and foremost for AI agents, for the world’s most ambitious and AI-forward CPG brands.
We're founded by Chris (2x Founder; ex-CEO at Better Nature; Forbes 30U30), Dirk (ex-Google Data & AI Lead), and Matthew (ex-Head of Product at Rosemark; Princeton MEng in CS). We’ve built CPG brands, now we’re fixing how they operate.
Our near-term vision is to enable the next billion-dollar CPG brand to be built by fewer than 10 people. Ultimately, our ambition is to build a fully agentic CPG brand house on a scale even greater than that of Nestlé, PepsiCo, and Unilever, with profit margins almost double theirs.
📈 Where We Are Now
- $0 to $35K MRR in 2 months, with customer demand outpacing our capacity
- Backed by Y Combinator (W26), ranking in the top 10% of the batch
- Raised a $2M Pre-Seed led by Firstminute Capital (investors in Granola, n8n, Mistral, Wayve), with additional funding secured post-YC from Top Tier VCs (details TBA)
We’ve proven that we’re solving an extremely urgent need. Now we need your help to scale it.
🧠 The Role
This is not a traditional FDE role. On top of working directly with our customers to solve their back-office pain, you’ll also be building frontier agentic systems that will define how the most AI-forward CPG brands operate.
For the most part, you will go from customer problem to real-world impact within hours and own problems end-to-end. This includes:
- Talking directly to customers to understand workflows
- Designing systems that model real business processes
- Building agent-driven workflows that execute across systems
- Shipping production features fast and iterating in real-time
- Improving reliability, observability, and correctness of agent systems
- Anything else that needs to be done to make Corvera a success
In your first 30 days, you’ll ship an integration for a major retailer portal (like Walmart or Target) that our agents use to pull real-time inventory data, onboard 7 new customers onto Corvera and configure the product to suit their requirements, and work with the team to optimize the Corvera platform to allow us to even more rapidly onboard the next 100 customers. Lord knows what you’ll end up doing in the next 30 days.
🧬 What We’re Looking For
We care far more about how you think and behave than what’s on your CV.
You might be a great fit if you:
- Want to operate at the cutting edge of AI
- Have built and shipped production systems end-to-end
- Are an excellent, self-aware, and charismatic communicator
- Bring energy along with you into every call and room
- Move fast and default to action
- Are comfortable with ambiguity and undefined problems
- Are naturally competitive, both with yourself and your peers
- Have the ability to both zoom in to control the details and zoom out to structure the system
- Care deeply about real-world outcomes (not just code)
- Have high standards, even under speed
- Have proven the ability to work tirelessly
- Have insatiable ambition and want nothing more than to build the next Silicon Valley unicorn
This role is not for you if you:
- Are looking for a “9–5” or a role with clear boundaries (by default we work 996)
- Optimize for elegance over impact
- Are uncomfortable talking directly to customers or owning outcomes end-to-end
- Need heavy structure, process, or management to be effective
- Want to stay within the bounds of “just engineering”
- Don’t want to replace entire teams with software
This aside, we do also care about your achievements and need folks who can hit the ground running. As such, you should:
- Have 2–5+ years of experience building and shipping production systems end-to-end
- Be comfortable working across the stack (backend, APIs, data, infra; frontend is a plus)
- Have experience designing scalable, fault-tolerant systems in ambiguous environments
- Be able to model real-world workflows into software abstractions
- Have strong fundamentals in:
- Distributed systems
- Data modeling and system design
- API design and integrations (ERP systems, third-party tools, etc.)
- Be comfortable debugging complex, non-deterministic systems (e.g., AI/agent workflows)
- Have experience (or strong interest) in:
- LLMs, agents, or workflow orchestration
- Observability, evaluation, and reliability of AI systems
The following are nice-to-haves:
- Early-stage startup experience
- Experience working on retailer, wholesaler, or CPG brand use-cases
🌍 Why Join
We can say all the standard stuff - that you’ll be working directly with customers from day one, that you’ll be defining how AI agents actually operate in real-world businesses, that you’ll have real ownership, and that you’ll be helping us shape our product at a critical inflection point.
But really, the reason why you should join is that we are genuinely a great bunch to work with, we care deeply about each other, and we work extremely hard and have a ton of fun doing so.
The current team (4 of us) live together. Not because we have to, but because we want to - we’re all really great friends! And that shows in the workplace too - we trust each other entirely, and the last thing any of us wants to do is to let each other down.
We do pretty much everything together. We go on runs together. We go clubbing together. We go on trips together. So there’s nothing more important to us than making sure we only invite those who add to our energy to join Corvera.
So what’s in it for you? You get to be an integral part of all of this. You wouldn’t be forced to move in with us, but you’ll probably want to do so because you won’t find better housemates anywhere else!
And of course, we offer an attractive compensation package including options in Corvera. Our range for this role is $200-300K p.a. (base + stock). But if compensation is the only thing you’re optimizing for, you should perhaps look elsewhere.
If instead what you’re looking for is the ride of a lifetime, then you’ll fit right in.
