Major Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) at Peterson SFB, Colorado Springs, CO is searching for an Electronics Engineer to support the Rapid Reaction Branch (NH-0855-03, GS 12/13 equivalent). Description: As an Electronics Engineer for the United States Space Force's elite Rapid Reaction Branch, you will be at the forefront of developing, testing, and fielding cutting-edge space systems in response to urgent national defense needs. You will serve as a technical advisor and leader, guiding teams through the full lifecycle of space communications and electronic systems-from requirements definition and design, to integration, testing, and operational deployment. In this dynamic and mission-critical role, you will collaborate with senior military officials, program managers, and industry partners to deliver innovative solutions at the speed of relevance. You will analyze complex technical challenges, oversee contractor performance, and ensure that projects meet cost, schedule, and performance goals. Your expertise will directly impact the success of rapid prototyping efforts and the delivery of new capabilities to the warfighter. Ideal Candidate: Must have extensive knowledge of professional electronics engineering concepts, principles, and practices, and experience with the development, testing, and evaluation of electronic systems, especially in space or defense applications. Familiarity with systems engineering, acquisition regulations, and program management is important, as is a demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and serve as a subject matter expert. Experience with RF communications, hardware/software integration, modeling and simulation, and test planning and execution is highly valued. Key Skills and Abilities: 1. Knowledge of professional electronics engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services. 2. Knowledge of development testing and evaluation sufficient to apply experimental theories and new applications to issues and provide technical advice and direction in support of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment. 3. Knowledge of integrated air-vehicles, ground systems, and support equipment sufficient to plan, design, test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and oversee the development and/or sustainment of electronic systems or devices. 4. Knowledge of systems engineering practices and procedures as they pertain to sustainment, modification, logistics, and production management principles, concepts, policies, and systems; of standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures; and of other engineering disciplines. 5. Ability to devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches, and to assess the impact of new technology on current systems and processes. 6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, with technical accuracy and to use computers and a variety of software programs and databases, gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning program progress, and effectively communicate recommendations orally and in writing to higher organizational management and contractors.
