Senior Technical Account Manager - Cloud Application Security (Cloud WAF)

The Opportunity
As a Senior Technical Account Manager, you will own the technical relationship with strategic enterprise customers and be accountable for driving the successful adoption, optimisation and long-term value of Thales Cloud Application Security solutions.
You will act as a trusted advisor to customer technical and security leadership, guiding architecture decisions, security strategy, and platform usage across Cloud WAF, API Security, bot mitigation, DDoS protection and edge services.
You will lead complex escalations, influence product direction through customer feedback and work cross functionally with Engineering, Product and Threat Research teams to resolve critical issues and improve platform capabilities.
This role requires deep technical expertise, strong customer ownership, and the ability to operate at both hands on and strategic levels.
Note: This is not a sales-related role. You will not be assigned any quotas for renewals, upsells, etc.
Responsibilities
• Own the end-to-end technical relationship for assigned strategic accounts, with accountability for platform adoption, optimisation, and customer outcomes.
• Act as the primary technical advisor to customer stakeholders, including senior engineers, architects, and security leadership.
• Lead complex technical escalations, coordinating across internal teams to drive timely resolution and clear communication.
• Drive proactive engagement through regular service reviews, technical deep dives, and architecture discussions.
• Analyse customer traffic, attack patterns, and platform telemetry to identify risks, gaps and optimisation opportunities.
• Define and execute improvement plans to strengthen customer security posture and platform effectiveness.
• Provide expert guidance on Cloud WAF configuration, rule tuning, bot mitigation strategy, API protection, and DDoS readiness.
• Assess customer architectures including DNS, application flows, origin exposure, and traffic routing to ensure secure and optimal deployments.
• Influence internal product and engineering teams by representing customer requirements, recurring issues and feature gaps.
• Mentor TAMs and contribute to the development of best practices, playbooks and operational standards.
Required Technical Qualifications
• Significant experience in a technical customer facing role such as Technical Account Manager, Security Engineer or Solutions Architect within cybersecurity or cloud environments.
• Strong experience with web application security and delivery technologies including WAF, CDN, DDoS protection, DNS and load balancing.
• Deep understanding of networking and internet protocols including TCP/IP, HTTP/S, TLS, proxies, and edge architectures.
• Proven experience managing and resolving complex technical escalations in enterprise environments.
• Experience analysing web traffic, attack vectors and security events to drive mitigation and optimisation strategies.
• Strong understanding of modern application architectures including APIs and distributed systems.
• Ability to assess and design secure application delivery architectures.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly and concisely.

• Ability to balance reactive escalation handling with proactive customer engagement.
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills in high pressure environments.
• Experience mentoring or leading others is highly desirable.
