Job Description

As an On-Site Support Engineer you will have the opportunity of working in an exciting and technically challenging domain integrating air traffic control and information management systems that require advanced solutions in the area of information processing, information management, user interaction and display of sensor’s information.
As part of Thales "Air Traffic Control Center" projects for our European clients, you will be deployed to the client site in Lisbon to provide site support and interface with Thales teams in the factory (Project Manager, Systems Engineers, SW Developers, Integrators and Validators).
Responsibilities:
Analysis of anomalies in the operational TOPSKY system raised by the client’s technical teams or by the controllers;
Understanding of operational issues, allowing prioritization and detailed feedback to controllers;
Participation in customer validation activities of the different system maturation versions, prior to deployment;
Support for integration activities and deployment of new versions;
Support for the development of the client’s operational dataset (offline system data and parameters);
Analysis of the client’s new technical and functional needs, capturing business opportunities;
Provide operational/functional support to end-users and internal engineering teams and resolving technical inquiries;
Weekly reporting to the client and project (Project Manager, System Engineering Manager, IVVQ Manager, FS Manager).
Requirements:
Academic background in Engineering (e.g. Computer Science, Electronics, Telecommunications);
Experience in system engineering, verification and validation of complex systems, preferably on the air traffic control domain;
Experience in preparation and executing tests: documentation, testing, problem analysis, defect reports, etc.;
Availability for full time (5 days per week, Monday to Friday) presence at a customer site in the Lisbon area;
Technical knowledge:
Understand operational problems and give feedback to Thales and customer air traffic controllers;
Good knowledge of Linux and scripts (Python, Perl); other programming languages (Java, C) would be a plus;
Software architecture and Network knowledge.
