About the Segment Services:

The Services Segment is one of the segments in the Naval organization of Thales Hengelo. The segment is responsible for assuring all activities relating to development and delivery of our solutions for services. We partner with the navies to deliver a wide range of support and service packages, as well as operational services and training. Together with our customers we deliver excellent lifecycle support to ensure operational readiness of their systems at decisive moments.

About your future job
The focus of the HoSO is to drive growth of processes, reporting, practices and tools to ensure delivery of services. The HoSO is reporting to the Product Segment Manager (PSM) Services on the delivery axis and to the Director Operations Naval on the discipline axis. The goal of the HoSo is also to achieve operational processes that run smoothly, efficiently and effectively to ensure On Cost, On Time and On Quality to our Customers. 

This includes driving segment performance, objectives and milestones, defining KPI’s like OTD’s or FAT’s, preparing reports on delivery performance and Multi Year Budgets. The HoSO establishes, leverages and maintains dashboards, IT platforms, ERP systems and data analytics (for example Oracle, Anaplan and PowerBI) for planning, performance monitoring and data driven decision making.

Tasks and responsibilities are:

  • Responsibility of the Services operations team, being 5 FTE direct reports.
  • Support bid and project management: Involvement and support in bid and project processes, including risk & opportunity management, resource allocation, and bid pipeline monitoring. This includes forecasting, monitoring the solidity, actuality and achievability of the schedules and securing resources necessary during both stages.
  • S&OP: A shared focus on managing or supporting S&OP processes and aligning sales forecasts with operational capacity. Ensuring demand and supply are aligned and sufficient knowledge of supporting tools. Anticipating resource needs, supporting production ramp-ups or ramp-downs, and securing necessary resources.
  • Risk & Opportunity Management: Project R&O’s are reported to the HoSO. The HoSO ensures that appropriate actions are taken to mitigate risks or opportunities are utilized. The HoSO has a steering role and shapes R&O strategy and policies.
  • Accountable for E2E teams performance of Service parts, Repairs and Obsolescence management. This included lead-time improvement of spares and repairs.
  • The HoSO is responsible for the integration of service processes, service capabilities and related tools with entities belonging to the Above Water Systems business line. In addition, the HoSO secures integration of services with the Surface Radar business line and DGDI service centers.
  • Cross-functional coordination and integration: Managing relationships and actively drive alignment across multiple functions such as procurement, purchasing and offsets,  supply chain (make/buy), industrial policies, real estate, sales, finance, engineering, and operations to ensure smooth operations, safety of personnel, transparency and feedback loops.
  • The HoSO is accountable for the Service segment inventory management, responsible to set the yearly VEX objectives and assures an action plan is in place to meet the objectives.
  • IT - The HoSO is responsible for the IT-service roadmap and alignment with IS/IT, including ServiceNow, Primavera, Windchill PLM and Oracle ERP all aligned in cooperation with the process owners (HoD/CPO/DPO’s) and subject matter experts (SME).
  • Process optimization and continuous improvement: Identification of process inefficiencies and tool weaknesses, proposing and implementing improvements, and supporting lean methodologies or automation. Manages segment improvement and delivery plan (project / product efficiency plan). Embed lessons learned within the organization. Responsibility is the Domain Process Ownership of the Chorus 8.1 Manage Services process in Naval, assuring a yearly process review and establishment of the Process roadmap.
  • Focus on Customer Care and Delivery Management, IT enabling (systems, software and hardware) and Product Life Cycle Management (controls budget on earned value and expenditures).
