Why this role matters:

As a Marketing Lead - Germany, you’ll build and own ICEYE’s German brand and go-to-market presence. This is a hands-on, strategic role: you will create the Germany narrative, translate complex technology into persuasive stories, run GTM programs, manage agencies and events, and ensure local activity is tightly aligned with ICEYE’s central marketing and global brand and local government affairs and operations. Initially you will operate alone and collaborate closely with the local CEO and central marketing team to scale the function.

This role is accountable for establishing ICEYE’s visibility, credibility and pipeline enablement in Germany while protecting brand consistency and aligning with global strategy and templates as set by central marketing. The role will also act as the local marketing lead for public affairs, media and stakeholder engagement in Germany.

We are looking for a builder mindset with bias to action, technical fluency and the ability to tell stories across mediums, events and scale the impact of those.

These capabilities enable partners to detect and respond to critical changes anywhere on Earth with unprecedented speed and accuracy – day or night and in any weather, supported by ultra high-resolution imagery and high-frequency revisits.

As a trusted partner for defense, intelligence, security, and maritime domain awareness, ICEYE’s near real-time data creates a tactical advantage for mission-critical operations. Designed for dual use, the platform also serves civil protection and commercial users for natural-catastrophe intelligence, insurance, maritime monitoring (including oil-spill detection), and finance, contributing to global security and community resilience.

Your day-to-day responsibilities

  • Define and own the German marketing & communications strategy and narrative, aligned with ICEYE’s global positioning and product strategy.
  • Translate complex technical and AI-driven products into compelling stories and clear value propositions for German audiences (defence, government, infrastructure, industry).
  • Build and execute GTM plans for product launches, solution rollouts and local partnerships to generate demand, support sales and enable channel partners in Germany.
  • Create high-quality content across formats: presentations, case studies, white papers, technical narratives, thought leadership, website copy, social and multimedia.
  • Create brand awareness in Germany - visual and verbal identity execution - ensuring strict adherence to central marketing brand guidelines and templates.
  • Manage PR, media relations, and external agencies (PR, design, events); act as the local spokesperson and media contact when agreed with the Country CEO.
  • Plan and run events, demos, industry days and customer workshops (including live demos), and coordinate participation at national trade shows and conferences.
  • Measure and report marketing performance (pipeline contribution, leads, engagement, brand metrics) and iterate based on data.
  • Coordinate tightly with central marketing for global campaigns, asset-sharing, approvals, and cross-market initiatives; ensure local plans meet compliance and export control constraints where applicable.
  • Establish local processes: budget management, agency RFPs, vendor contracts, and workflow to scale the function.

Requirements

Must haves:

  • Located and based in Berlin. Able to work on site and represent ICEYE in local meetings and events.
  • 6+ years’ marketing experience, with at least 3+ years owning B2B technology/defence/space/AI marketing or product marketing in high-complexity technical sectors.
  • Deep fluency in AI concepts and the ability to position AI-enabled products credibly for technical and executive audiences.
  • Proven experience in go-to-market planning and execution (launches, demand generation, sales enablement).
  • Strong storytelling and narrative skills: able to craft messages for technical decision-makers, procurement, and public audiences.
  • Hands-on design appreciation and capability to produce or direct high-quality creative assets (presentations, decks, visual storytelling); experience working with design teams or agencies.
  • Excellent written and spoken German and English. Ability to write clear technical narratives in both languages.
  • Experience managing agencies (PR, design, lobbying) and external stakeholders; comfortable being the primary contact while coordinating with central teams.
  • Data-driven: experience with marketing analytics, pipeline reporting and KPIs to demonstrate ROI.
  • Self-starter and operator: able to set priorities, execute independently, and build processes from scratch while working cross-functionally.

Nice to haves:

  • Background in defence, geospatial intelligence, space, remote sensing, or adjacent sectors.
  • Experience with government procurement cycles and public sector communications in Germany.
  • Existing network of German trade media contacts, industry bodies, or relevant associations.
  • Familiarity with export control and compliance constraints when marketing dual-use technologies.

Working relationships

  • Direct report to the Country CEO - close operational partnership on public messaging, lobbying coordination and stakeholder engagement.
  • Day-to-day collaboration with Central Marketing (brand, product marketing, content, design and demand gen), Sales/BD, Program Leads (e.g., RISS), and external agencies.

Other important points

  • This role is expected to establish the marketing function in Germany and scale it appropriately (hiring, outsourced partners) in alignment with ICEYE’s investment plan and local operating model. The Marketing Lead must ensure local activities are consistent with ICEYE’s global brand and centralized processes while tailoring the message to the German market.
