Introduction to the job
As a Team Leader within the Manufacturing Technical Support Group, you are responsible for leading a team of engineers to deliver safe, stable, and efficient factory operations. You combine people leadership with strong technical understanding to drive operational results, develop team capability, and ensure alignment with factory objectives.
You act as the primary people manager for your team while collaborating closely with Technical Leaders, Group Leaders, and cross‑functional stakeholders to resolve complex issues and continuously improve factory performance.
Role and responsibilities
Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E)
Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental procedures across the work center or shift.
Actively promote a strong safety mindset, serve as a role model, and hold team members accountable for safe behavior.
Perform and register safety checks, follow up on findings, and ensure learnings are shared and applied within the department.
Take ownership of HS&E performance for the assigned work center.
People Management and Development
Lead, coach, and develop approximately 15–20 direct reports, including performance appraisal and target cascading.
Build team capability by assigning challenging tasks, guiding skills development, and supporting career growth.
Ensure retention of critical knowledge and competencies within the team and support natural team development.
Operational Execution and Realization
Drive realization of operational targets and KPIs for the team in line with factory and departmental objectives.
Coordinate daily activities within the work center or shift, balancing resources, priorities, and production demand.
Contribute to factory planning activities and support optimization beyond the own team when required.
Technical Alignment and Issue Management
Ensure effective execution of troubleshooting and issue resolution in collaboration with Technical Leaders and subject matter experts.
Understand technical dependencies and interfaces with other teams and coordinate cross‑team actions when needed.
Support escalation processes by providing clear operational context, data, and impact assessment.
Continuous Improvement
Review existing operations within the own area (L5 level) and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Foster a Lean / Kaizen mindset within the team and encourage innovation and structured problem solving.
Drive implementation of improvement actions and ensure sustainable results.
Management Information and Stakeholder Management
Provide regular reports and analyses on team performance, operational results, and improvement progress.
Build and maintain an effective network with internal stakeholders such as other Team Leaders, Group Leaders, and support functions.
Represent the team in discussions with internal and external stakeholders, explaining and supporting operational decisions with fact‑based arguments.
Annual Planning, Budget, and Strategy Execution
Translate operational targets into annual plans for the team and drive execution within agreed timelines and budgets.
Manage deviations, risks, and required adjustments, including preparing proposals and obtaining approvals.
Contribute to policy development and execution at the next organizational level and ensure plans are executed over a multi‑month horizon.
Education and experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field; Master’s degree preferred, or equivalent working and thinking level.
Solid experience in manufacturing, operations, or technical support environments.
Proven experience in planning and managing operational activities to deliver predefined objectives.
Experience in leading teams, shifts, or work centers is required.
Skills
Strong people leadership and coaching capabilities.
Good technical understanding to interface effectively with engineers and Technical Leaders.
Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage operational activities under dynamic conditions.
Strong communication skills.
Structured, fact‑based decision making with a continuous improvement mindset.
Stakeholder management skills and the ability to align across teams.
Other information
Standard working hours are day shift (08:00–17:00).
Weekend on‑call support or overtime may be required based on production demand.
