Senior Data Engineer (Cork)

Qumulo
Cork, Ireland

Job Description

Qumulo's cloud data platform manages exabytes of the world's most demanding data, unifying files, objects, and every workload across edge, core, and cloud. To drive our next phase of hyper-growth, we recently opened a strategic hub in Cork.

About the Position:

As a Senior Data Engineer at Qumulo in Cork, you will be a foundational member of the team building the data platform that powers how the company sees itself and acts on what it sees. You will lead the design, build, and operation of our data warehouse, pipelines, and analytical surfaces to turn data from across the business into trusted, AI-ready insight for Sales, Customer Success, Finance, and the executive team. This is a strategic technical role: the architecture you put in place will be the foundation for an AI-native, data-driven business, not just a refresh of yesterday's reporting.

We hire committed, adaptive problem-solvers who can listen to a non-technical business question, find the real requirement underneath, and deliver scalable, trustworthy data products that answer it. At Qumulo, you are part of a community where every individual has a voice, empowered with the charter to design and build solutions that deliver clear value to our customers and our company.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and operate the data architecture that captures and stores data from across the business — Salesforce, NetSuite, M3ter, cloud hyperscalers, and Qumulo's internal customer monitoring systems.

  • Build the data warehouse foundations (using tools like DBT with Redshift or Snowflake) that power analytical surfaces today and AI use cases tomorrow.

  • Engineer pipelines that route data appropriately and apply cost-optimization strategies like storage tiering, Redshift Spectrum / Lake Formation, and compute lifecycle management.

  • Design schemas that support both RAG architectures and traditional predictive modeling, so AI/ML tools can leverage Qumulo's data as the company evolves toward AI-native operations.

  • Build dashboards in Tableau (or equivalent) that the executive team, Sales leadership, Customer Success, and Finance rely on every day.

  • Direct the work of UI and dashboard contractors: define technical requirements, run code and design reviews, and keep vendor deliverables aligned with internal objectives.

  • Partner directly with Sales Operations, Business Systems, Finance, Customer Success, and Engineering to design data flows that span systems and surface insight where it matters.

  • Own the reliability and accuracy of the data products you ship. Participate in code reviews, engage with CI/CD pipelines, and help shape architecture decisions that scale with the business.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of data engineering or analytics engineering experience

  • Advanced SQL, ETL, DBT, data architecture, and workflow management expertise, along with strong Python skills for data transformation, orchestration, and tooling.

  • Experience modeling SaaS business data (Salesforce Objects, NetSuite ERP, or equivalent) and the nuances of API-based ingestion, along with cost-optimization strategies including storage tiering, Redshift Spectrum / Lake Formation, and compute lifecycle management.

  • A deep background in cloud data warehouses (Redshift, Snowflake, or equivalent), object storage (S3 or equivalent), serverless compute (Lambda, Azure Functions, or equivalent), and modern BI platforms like Tableau.

  • Experience designing data structures for AI/ML use, including RAG-friendly schemas and predictive modeling support, and using modern AI developer tools to ship faster without compromising clarity or correctness.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of working alongside Sales Operations, Business Systems, Finance, and Engineering in agile, cross-functional environments.

  • A Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Cloud certifications or equivalent experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP) would be highly preferred.

Further Details:

Joining the Cork team means stepping into an open, inclusive culture where we act as owners, share by default, and build exciting solutions together. Empowered by cutting-edge tools and methodologies, you will have a unique opportunity to accelerate your career alongside a world-class team, innovating at the speed of data to do the hard, right thing for our customers.

  • Competitive salary and benefits package, including equity, pension, and healthcare

  • Flexible working arrangements, with 3 days onsite and 2 remote

  • Reimbursement for home phone and internet

About Qumulo

Modern enterprises have to manage exponentially-growing exabyte-scale data stores comprised mostly of unstructured data. Someone (often IT) has the difficult job of staying on top of managing these data stores, which becomes more difficult to do as enterprise datasets expand from the data center to the edge and cloud. And while scale and complexity are rising, budgets and staff are not. Existing solutions suffer from two crucial shortcomings: Complexity and platform lock-in. Legacy solutions are excruciatingly complex to deploy and manage. And nearly every solution restricts users to running in only the data center and on expensive, inflexible proprietary hardware platforms. Qumulo is the simple way to manage exabyte-scale data anywhere — edge, core, or cloud — on the platform of your choice. In a world with trillions of files and objects comprising 100+ zettabytes worldwide, companies need a solution that combines the ability to work anywhere with simplicity. This is precisely what Qumulo was founded to accomplish.
