Job Description

About the Role:

Qumulo is growing, and the internal systems our teams depend on need to grow with it. Demand for both on-prem and cloud deployments has jumped, and our IT team is scaling to keep the environment running smoothly and to automate the work that eats up everyone's time.

In this role you’ll join a small team to deploy and maintain the infrastructure our engineers use to build Qumulo's products: Active Directory, Windows and Linux servers, virtualization and container environments, and cloud services across AWS, GCP, and Azure. You'll also take on improvement projects with the autonomy to set standards and decide how things get done.

As a Senior Systems Administrator at Qumulo, you will:

  • Deploy and maintain the systems our engineers rely on: network devices, storage appliances, servers, VMs, containers, and SaaS and cloud services across AWS, GCP, and Azure

  • Administer Active Directory, Windows and Linux application and database servers, and the monitoring, alerting, logging, and configuration management that keeps them healthy

  • Automate the manual, repetitive work that slows the team down using Python, Bash, and Ansible

  • Plan and run backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity

  • Set and communicate SLAs so internal users know what to expect and when

  • Write and maintain documentation for both your team and the people you support

  • Run routine hardware and software audits and follow security best practices to protect Qumulo's IP

  • Act as a technical lead on hard problems and challenge existing standards to make the IT experience better

Our ideal Senior Systems Administrator will have:

  • 5+ years administering and automating Linux, Windows, and macOS environments, with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent hands-on experience

  • Solid experience with storage technologies such as SAN, NAS, NFS, SMB, and iSCSI

  • A strong background in complex virtualization and container environments

  • Experience managing users and deploying services across AWS, GCP, and Azure

  • Working fluency in automation tooling like Python, Bash, and Ansible

  • Clear written and verbal communication, plus the discretion to handle sensitive systems and information

  • Sound judgment and the ability to prioritize competing work with little day-to-day direction

  • Comfort being the go-to technical resource and working with senior people inside and outside Qumulo

  • Willingness to take periodic on-call rotations and ability to lift or carry equipment up to 50 lbs

The annual pay range for the role is USD $120,000 - $150,000. Individual pay depends on various factors, such as role level, relevant experience, and skills.

Benefits & Perks:

  • Flexible time-off policy0

  • HSA and PPO health insurance options

  • Dental and Vision insurance

  • 401(k) plan

  • Choice of an ORCA card or parking subsidy

About Qumulo

Modern enterprises have to manage exponentially-growing exabyte-scale data stores comprised mostly of unstructured data. Someone (often IT) has the difficult job of staying on top of managing these data stores, which becomes more difficult to do as enterprise datasets expand from the data center to the edge and cloud. And while scale and complexity are rising, budgets and staff are not. Existing solutions suffer from two crucial shortcomings: Complexity and platform lock-in. Legacy solutions are excruciatingly complex to deploy and manage. And nearly every solution restricts users to running in only the data center and on expensive, inflexible proprietary hardware platforms. Qumulo is the simple way to manage exabyte-scale data anywhere — edge, core, or cloud — on the platform of your choice. In a world with trillions of files and objects comprising 100+ zettabytes worldwide, companies need a solution that combines the ability to work anywhere with simplicity. This is precisely what Qumulo was founded to accomplish.
