The Product Assurance Engineer for Quality Assurance is responsible for maintaining and improving Voyager Technologies' AS9100-certified Quality Management System while ensuring compliance, reliability, and mission readiness across aerospace and defense programs. This role supports the full product lifecycle by partnering with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and program management teams to drive quality standards from supplier qualification through final delivery.

The position reports to the Quality Assurance Manager and is part of the Quality Assurance / Product Assurance team based in San Diego, California. This role is onsite — San Diego, California.

In this role, the essential functions are:

  • Maintain and continuously improve the AS9100-certified Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring alignment with ISO 9001, MIL-STD, NASA, and MDA requirements.
  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and program management teams to establish and enforce quality standards throughout the full product lifecycle, from supplier qualification through final delivery.
  • Lead and perform inspection activities to ensure conformance to design, engineering, and customer specifications across aerospace and defense hardware and software programs.
  • Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) processes, driving root cause analysis and effective, timely resolution.
  • Conduct supplier quality audits and assessments to evaluate and improve supplier performance, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support internal and external audits, including AS9100 certification audits and customer or regulatory program reviews.
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, process efficiency, and mission readiness.
  • Communicate quality metrics, risks, and program status to engineering and program management stakeholders in support of mission-critical milestones.

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related technical field with [5] years of experience in quality engineering OR Master's degree in a related field with [2] years of experience OR 5 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree OR High School Diploma or Equivalent with commensurate experience.
  2. Working knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 quality management system requirements and practices.
  3. Experience with non-conformance management, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action processes (e.g., 8D, CAPA).
  4. Familiarity with MIL-STD, NASA, and/or MDA quality and reliability requirements.
  5. Experience conducting or supporting supplier quality audits and assessments.
  6. Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced aerospace and defense environment.
  7. Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) certification.
  • Prior experience in an aerospace, defense, or space manufacturing environment.

Travel, Physical and/or Government Mandated Requirements:

  • Travel up to 0% including the possibility of overnights within [describe area or range].
  • Ability to lift, move, or carry items or equipment up to 15 pounds.
  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) (22 CFR Parts 120–130) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) (15 CFR Parts 730–774), applicants for this position must be a U.S. Person: a US Citizen, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., or a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3). Applicants must be eligible to obtain any required export authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or the U.S. Department of Commerce.

The good faith base salary range for this role is $90,000 – $120,000 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
