Job Description
About Cape
Cape is America’s privacy-first mobile carrier. Our mission is to be a force for good in global wireless. Cape was founded in 2022 by people who believe privacy is a fundamental right, not a luxury to be traded away. Our journey began when our founder recognized a critical vulnerability in our modern world: everyone relies on the same stagnant cellular infrastructure and legacy systems that track our every movement, monitor and profile our connections, and lose and sell our personal data.
Instead of accepting the status quo, we decided to fix it. National security professionals, journalists, parents, and everyone in between can stay connected and have privacy.
We didn’t just build a layer on top of old tech; we built America’s most private and secure mobile carrier from the ground up. By building our own network from scratch, we are able to design and build a suite of privacy and security features that no other carrier on the planet can offer.
Today, Cape provides our secure network to consumers, businesses, and government agencies alike. We closed our Series C in March 2026, and we are scaling rapidly, with the goal of giving people back control of their most personal information.
The Team
At Cape, we are the architects of a privacy-centric movement that is just getting started. We are relentless builders, constantly innovating at the edge of what’s possible in telecommunications. We operate on a foundation of high trust and high expectations. As a member of our team, you will collaborate with world-class engineers, architects, and visionaries, and work across organizational lines to solve "impossible" problems and deliver mission-critical results for our users every single day.
The Role
We are looking for an ambitious Accounting Analyst to support our growing Finance team at Cape. In this role, you will be a critical anchor for our month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, while fully owning our day-to-day accounts payable and procurement workflows. Operating within a fast-paced, privacy-focused telecom environment, you will bridge the gap between high-volume transaction execution and strategic process improvement. This is a phenomenal opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to scale alongside a high-growth company backed by top-tier investors. This role reports to our Associate Controller.
Here are some ways you’ll make an impact
Close Execution: Support periodic close processes, ensuring precise reporting.
Workflow Ownership: Entirely own accounts payable and procurement operations, ranging from vendor management and invoice processing to final payment execution.
Audit Readiness: Assist seamlessly with financial statement audits and proactively maintain deep financial systems knowledge.
Process Optimization: Continuously identify, design, and implement smart process improvements to increase the speed, accuracy, and efficiency of accounting operations.
Internal Controls: Actively support the documentation, design, and daily adherence to internal controls, keeping Cape in a continuously SOX-ready reporting posture.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner effectively across the aisle with Finance/Data, Telco, and Product teams, as well as external vendors to resolve workflow bottlenecks.
Data Integrity & Scale: Master the hygiene and optimization of complex financial datasets. Design automated validation frameworks to scrub unstructured sub-ledgers and rectify missing inputs, establishing a high-fidelity, definitive source of truth.
Are you the candidate we are looking for? (Requirements for the role) You have:
Proven Foundation: 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience within a Big 4 accounting firm, consulting, or a fast-paced tech/SaaS environment.
Systems Comfort: Strong core systems knowledge, with a strong preference for hands-on experience using Ramp.
Execution Under Pressure: A demonstrated ability to thrive inside high-growth, dynamic environments while cleanly managing competing priorities and tight deadlines.
Self-Starter Mentality: A clear track record of looking at status-quo processes, identifying inefficiencies, and independently driving optimization.
Project Ownership: Meticulous organizational skills with a history of successfully owning large projects end-to-end alongside recurring daily workflows.
Competencies
Role Competencies
Accounting Expertise & Systems Knowledge: Technical mastery of foundational accounting principles (GL, accruals, close optimization) and financial software ecosystem structures (specifically QBO, Ramp).
Attention to Detail & Organization: Exceptional precision in data entry, documentation, and reconciliation. Ability to catch small discrepancies before they hit financial statements.
Problem Solver & Process Optimizer: Anticipates workflow friction; actively builds and refines simplified, scalable solutions for transaction processing rather than just managing manual work.
Internal Controls & Compliance Mindset: Practical understanding of internal controls, risk mitigation, and documentation structures required to maintain a SOX-ready reporting environment.
Collaboration & Communication: Clear, effective verbal and written communication styles. Easily translates financial requirements or bottlenecks to non-finance stakeholders (Telco, Product) and external vendors.
Flexibility & Prioritization: Comfortably handles shifting priorities in a high-growth environment. Successfully balances long-term optimization projects with strict, recurring close deadlines without getting overwhelmed.
