Job Summary:

We are seeking an Advanced Missions Lead for the Advanced Technologies Group who excels at moving technology from zero to one. You will serve as the single-threaded leader for high-value CRAD initiatives, taking radical ownership of highly ambitious programs from proposed concept to physical reality. You believe in small, elite teams, extreme autonomy, minimizing bureaucratic reporting, and moving quickly.

You are a “tactical executor,” who can operate seamlessly at the intersection of business strategy and deep-tech innovation and programmatic execution. You are equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses to customer leaders as you are discussing technical tradeoffs in hardware and software development with your engineers. You thrive in the full contact sport of lean execution and evolving requirements of advanced and novel missions.

Responsibilities:

  • Single-Threaded Leadership: Act as the ultimate authority and visionary executing advanced novel mission sets, maintaining complete control over your project's direction, execution, and strategy.
  • Ruthless Efficiency & Small Teams: Restrict team bloat in an almost vicious manner, keeping the core group to a small number of exceptional people to maximize speed, mutual trust, and agility.
  • Plan and Execute Complex Programs: Lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish, working with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, and manage aggressive schedules.
  • Drive DARPA-Hard Innovation: Pursue leap-ahead capabilities rather than incremental improvements, managing early-stage investments and driving advanced tech into deployable assets.
  • Bridge Technology & Business: Collaborate closely with the engineering team to translate technical breakthroughs into viable, commercialized new products.
  • Get It Done: Push for progress and resolution especially in the ambiguous circumstances and hurdles that come with innovative program execution.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM field (Engineering, Physics, Computer Science) with 8+ years of technical product or program management experience.
  • Experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects in a hardware engineering or manufacturing engineering environment.
  • Proven history of shipping innovative, successful consumer or defense products from concept to launch.
  • Exceptional briefing skills; you can author clear documentation and deliver executive presentations with no ambiguity on status, constraints, and help needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive progress, solve problems, and mentor team members in highly ambiguous environments.
  • Experience translating complex engineering concepts into compelling value propositions for customers.
  • Proven capability managing and executing complex programs consisting of novel technologies and/or prototypes.
  • Experience interfacing directly with government stakeholders and customer across the DoD and/or IC and demonstrated understanding of their operational priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD in a relevant STEM field.
  • Experience taking complex hardware from concept through prototyping, qualification testing, and volume production.
  • Active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance.
  • Familiarity with incorporating generative AI tools or multi-agent systems to enhance workflow efficiency and productivity.
  • A "builder" mindset with a personal history of building things for fun—rockets, race cars, robots, or any other kinetic or electrical systems.
  • Previous space domain experience and programs execution including spacecraft integration and operations.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
