The primary purpose of this position is to provide professional clinical social work or marriage and family therapy services in support of the Family Advocacy Program (FAP).
Salary range does not include locality pay
Pay scale & grade NH 3Duties
- Designs, develops, coordinates, and implements the secondary prevention component of FAP.
- Responsible for case management activities occurring from initial referral and counseling, through case closure, or transfer.
- Provides professional advisory services and training to other health care professionals, installation personnel, and community agencies concerning secondary prevention programs; and serves as community liaison with military and civilian agencies.
- Works independently as a licensed clinical provider and uses advanced concepts, principles, procedures, practices, professional knowledge and sound judgment executing the clinical component of the FAP IAW program requirements and accepted standards of professional conduct.
- Independently performs crisis intervention services to ensure the safety of, and prevent further harm to, victims of family maltreatment

- (b) Government civilian providers must meet all applicable credentialing requirements IAW MTF guidelines and be fully qualified to perform within the scope of their practice.
- (c) Must possess and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- (d) In order to meet MTF credentialing and privileging currency requirements, must have actively practiced as an independent Licensed Clinical Social Worker or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist within the past two years.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.

- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety. Incumbent of this position is subject to the possibility of a random drug test.
- "Salary Range: This is an NH-03 position with full salary potential within that band, however the initial salary range offered for this position will be $75,706.00 to $117,034.00 which does not include locality pay percentage, unless statutory or regulatory rules prevail. Follow on salary increases based on contribution MAY be earned within the full salary of the NH-03 pay band"
GS-0185
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, Social Work Series 0185 + IOR.
BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
DEGREE: Successfully completed a master's degree with a major in social work or fulfilled all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. NOTE: You must provide a copy of your transcripts with your application.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the NH-002 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the NH-03 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Professional knowledge of clinical social work or marriage and family therapy practices, principles, and theories to carry full professional responsibility for cases involving a wide range of psychosocial, and environmental issues.
2. Knowledge in the organization, management, and administration of child and family welfare services to participate in program planning and in the development and maintenance of public understanding and sound working relationships with local agencies and community agencies.
3. Knowledge of a wide array of problems and disorders of children and families, and the varied resources needed to treat them.
4. Skill and ability to directly apply professional diagnostic skills to individuals and families.
5. Ability to evaluate and determine best application of multiple complex helping systems, various professions, and organizations; how they affect child and family welfare; and the multiple uses of such systems, professions, and organizations to deliver services.
6. Ability to assess, intervene, and provide therapeutic intervention.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
