The United States Space Force (USSF) at Buckley SFB, Aurora, CO is searching for a Director for Curriculum and Student Affairs to support 5 Space Warning Squadron (5 SWS) (NH-1750-03, GS-12/13 Equivalent).

Description:
Purpose: This position will be in charge of managing the course to produce missile warning and defense experts and crew forces in support of combat operations deployed in theater and defense of the homeland.

The 5th Space Warning Squadron (5 SWS) is seeking a Director, Curriculum and Student Affairs to lead the WT-5 weapon system training program, producing elite missile warning and defense experts in support of deployed combat operations and homeland defense.

Ideal candidate for this position will have a background in training and creating/managing courseware. Experience and knowledge in working through Department of Air Force training systems and processes as well as coordinating with multiple agencies to produce Combat Mission Ready crew forces is desired.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. Knowledge of program management principles to plan, execute, and manage a technical training program, including budget and resource allocation.
2. Knowledge of Instructional Systems Design (ISD) principles to plan, coordinate, design, develop, and validate full-length courses and complex instructional materials.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of Space Operations and Planning, Missile Warning/Defense, Satellite Communication, Remote Sensing, Space Environment, and National Space Policy to develop and teach course content with a high degree of expertise.
4. Knowledge of test and measurement principles to develop valid measurement plans and devices for assessing learning achievement.
5. Knowledge of Communications Security (COMSEC) policies and procedures for the management and safeguarding of cryptographic materials.
6. Ability to manage student affairs and deal with personnel using a high degree of tact, diplomacy, and emotional intelligence, particularly when advising on academic progress or addressing student concerns.
7. Ability to manage training facilities and equipment, including coordinating for maintenance and procurement of training aids.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed “Unscheduled Telework”.
  • PCS / relocation funding is not authorized.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
  • Safeguards classified or sensitive budget-related information and/or files.
  • This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): 30 days a year.
  • The incumbent must be or be able to obtain instructor qualification.
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
