Senior Scrum Master
Role & Purpose: The Scrum Master plays a crucial role in facilitating agile practices within the development team, ensuring team success through host leadership and a strong commitment to agile values. The role includes both internal and external responsibilities, coaching team members, supporting product owners, fostering psychological safety, and protecting the team from external interruptions. The Scrum Master works closely with different stakeholders to optimize delivery, manage skills, and create a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
Key responsibilities:
Agile facilitation & delivery flow:
- Lead and facilitate all team agile rituals and events, ensuring process mastery.
- Visualize all work, measure and optimize value flow within the team.
- Proactively identify and remove impediments and dependencies to maintain flow.
- Represent the agile team in Agile Release Train (ART) meetings and events including PI Planning and Scrum of Scrums (SoS).
Coaching, team development & leadership:
- Collaborate with and mentor the Product Owner (PO) to manage and prioritize the team’s backlog.
- Guide the team to use effective product management and quality practices.
- Foster a high-performing team environment, supporting psychological safety, transparency, and collaboration.
- Support the development of T-shaped capabilities within the team to promote cross-functionality and reduce dependencies.
- Coaching teams and Product Owners & Conflict resolution and facilitation skills
Metrics, transparency & reporting:
- Ensure accurate reporting and update of team activities in tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Provide visibility on team contributions, delivery metrics, and progress (e.g., burndown charts, velocity).
Stakeholder collaboration & planning:
- Work closely with different stakeholders to optimize delivery, manage skills, and create a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
- Gather and capitalize data on team capacity before PI Planning (leaves, extra hours, training hours).
Delegated management activities:
- Perform management activities by delegation, including leave validation and hours logging for capitalization and progress measurement.
Required experience:
Agile & SAFe:
- Deep understanding of agile and lean values, principles, and practices.
- Agile & SAFe methodologies
- Experience in facilitating agile ceremonies and team events.
Delivery & problem solving:
- Skilled in identifying and proactively removing impediments and dependencies.
- Recognized problem-solving expertise
Coaching & people development:
- Ability to coach teams and Product Owners in backlog refinement, product management, and build-in quality practices.
- Experience with performance assessment and development of team skillsets, including T-shaped skills for software engineering (SE), software (SW), and IVV work.
Tools & metrics:
- Proficiency in using agile tools such as Jira, Confluence, and other reporting tools.
- Capability to report using engineering data and delivery metrics (burndown chart, velocity, predictability, etc.).
- PSM certification
Would be a plus:
- An understanding of requirements and configuration management, aeronautical Software and Hardware standard (e.g. ED-109/DO-278) and Air Traffic Control
Soft skills:
- Host leadership and collaborative mindset.
- Strong coaching, mentoring, and facilitation abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to foster psychological safety, transparency, and resolve conflicts within the team.
- Proactive in supporting continuous learning and improvement.
- Adaptability and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving. Strong organizational skills for managing reporting, team meetings, and administrative activities.
Working model & employment details:
- Hybrid model: 3 days in the office and 2 remote per week.
- Office: Orhideea Tower, near Grozăvești metro station.
- Working hours: standard 9–18, with flexible scheduling between 7–21.
- Friday: short Friday with core hours 10–13 and working schedule 9–15.
- Employment: indefinite contract (CIM).
