ABOUT THE PRODUCT

This role is part of the development of F126 ships for the German Navy, Thales’ biggest project to date. We develop and integrate all subsystems onboard the ships. With the complete solution, we enable this new generation of frigates for the German Navy to protect ships and other units from above-water threats. Innovative techniques are required to address these threats, as they are becoming faster, smarter and more complex.

Specifically, our software engineering department develops warfighting software that connects Thales' next-generation radar suite with the actual firing systems on marine ships. Through intelligent algorithms, the warfighting system provides the necessary information to Defense Operators to make the right decision within seconds.

ABOUT THE JOB

The Senior Product Owner maximizes the value of the product resulting from the development team. In this role, you will provide the best items for the development team to deliver high quality product. You will also act as an interface between the technical team, the marketing team the customers and end-users.

As a Senior Product Owner (PO), you are a vital link between internal (project and product) stakeholders and their requirements, the (technical product) roadmap for the streams and teams, the product architecture and the development team. There are multiple teams within multiple sub-departments working on the same, so dependency management and alignment between teams and sub-departments is essential.

You collaborate with Project Managers, your Team/line Manager, other POs within and outside the sub-department, and with the Functional Lead of the stream. Your part in the delivery results comes from Prioritizing, working on Design Sessions, Backlog Grooming and Documentation, and Roadmap Creation. The software we use is based on Java and is supported by a modern development environment. Your agile / scrum team is multidisciplinary (incl. scrum master, architect, tester and SW engineers) and responsible for developing the core technology of the F126 warfighting system, that interfaces to several other components, like the fire control system and weapon systems. You will act as the leader of the agile / scrum team, both in functional content as well as in team dynamics and efficiency.

ABOUT YOU

• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience as Product Owner;

• Knowledge and experience in development of software intense systems;
