PLM Engineer
The "Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)" Agile squad ensures that our Thales Netherlands colleagues are provided with PLM applications that properly support their processes. From the Hengelo location, we provide support to the 4 Thales offices in the Netherlands.
Purpose of the Role
As an PLM Engineer, you ensure the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of Thales Netherlands’ PLM landscape. You develop, configure, integrate, and support PLM solutions that enable engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to work efficiently throughout the full product lifecycle. You operate within the PLM Agile Squad in Hengelo, supporting all four Thales NL sites.
Key Responsibilities
System Management
- Maintain and administer PLM systems to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability. Develop and optimize PLM functionalities, extensions, and and integrations tailored to business needs.
Process Optimization
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements within the PLM framework.
Support & Troubleshooting:
- Provide 2nd/3rd line support for PLM applications.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Guide users and stakeholders on best practices.
Data Management
- Ensure data integrity and security throughout the product lifecycle.
Integration
- Work on integration of PLM solutions with other enterprise systems and tools to enable seamless data exchange.
Training and Knowledge sharing
- Conduct training and knowledge sharing sessions to users and colleagues.
Documentation
- Deliver and maintain technical documentation, configuration records, and operational procedures.

Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
- Proven experience with PLM systems (preferably PTC Windchill).
- Strong knowledge of Linux/Windows environments.
- Experience with Oracle databases, networking, and security principles.
- Java development experience (Windchill APIs and customizations).
- Familiarity with Git, Jira and Confluence
- Experience with automation tools (Ansible experience is a plus).

- Professional with both technical depth and functional understanding.
- Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
- Service oriented mindset and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to listen, ask the right questions, and translate needs into technical solutions.
- Team player with a proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer science, IT, Engineering or related field
- 3+ years of experience in PLM engineering, application development, or system administration
