Location – Templecombe

Hours - 4 day week Monday-Thursday / 37 hours per week

At Thales Underwater Systems our purpose is to be the leading provider of underwater sensors and decision superiority, helping navies across the world keep our friends, families and all of us safe. We cover four sectors: Mine Counter Measures, Anti-Submarine warfare, Services and Future Capabilities.

As a Manufacturing Operator at Thales, you’ll play an important role within a supportive and collaborative manufacturing team at our Templecombe site. Here, we’re proud to design and build world‑leading, products and technologies that make a real difference.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

As part of our manufacturing team, you’ll contribute to the build of high‑quality electrical assemblies, working carefully and collaboratively in line with engineering drawings and documentation.

  • Assemble electrical products to agreed quality standards and delivery timelines

  • Raise and discuss any process blockers or challenges with your Team Leader

  • Actively support a safe working environment by highlighting health and safety concerns

  • Maintain organised, clean work areas in line with 5S standards

  • Identify, record and escalate any quality non‑conformances to support continuous improvement

About you:

You may already have some experience in manufacturing or assembly, or be looking to take the next step in developing your skills within a supportive environment. You’re comfortable working independently when needed, while valuing teamwork and shared success.

  • Clear and confident communication skills

  • Enjoy working as part of a collaborative team

  • Able to understand and follow build packs, drawings and wiring diagrams

  • Comfortable following processes and instructions with care and attention to detail

Due to the nature of the work that we do at Thales, many of our roles are subject to security restrictions.  This role requires you to be a UK National and achieve Security Clearance (SC) without any caveats. It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to commencing employment.  If approved by the MOD, a dual national from a non-ITAR country may be considered.

To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years.  In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years’ residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.
