Location: Gorgonzola, Italy

Gorgonzola hosts Navigations Air Systems (NAS) domain. The activity of NAS domain: avionics, navigation and radar systems for civil air traffic and technologies supporting the activities of civilian and military pilots, ATC controllers and technicians of several airlines, air traffic control agencies and Air Force around the world. Italy is the Group’s Competence center for the design, production and delivery of Navigation Aids products and Competence Centre for the delivery of non-Radar Surveillance Products.

Main tasks:

  • Coordination of Installation, Commissioning, Technical documentation and Training activities, within the “Navigation and non-radar Surveillance” (NAS) Business Segment Organization, related to the deployment of navigation systems, non-radar surveillance systems, telecommunication infrastructure and other technical systems belonging to Thales portfolio.
  • Support to Customers’ offer preparation.
  • Management of customer’s technical documentation.
  • Remote support and on-site activities related to after sales assistance and corrective maintenance.

Detailed tasks description and responsibilities

  • he/she reports to the Head of Services.
  • Is responsible to represent Thales interests within the assigned area of responsibility
  • Ensures customer satisfaction while maintaining Thales processes.
  • Has full international exposure, managing customers worldwide.
  • Is responsible to plan all the activities in his portfolio, verifying and solving scheduling conflicts.
  • Is responsible to manage all the activities related to installation, site supervision, setting up, commissioning, training (in factory and on site), site acceptance tests, corrective maintenance and operational validation activities where required.
  • Is responsible to coordinate and supervise subcontractors in charge of trainings, civil works, infrastructure deployment, installation and commissioning activities.
  • Is responsible to plan and manage training courses, using own or other departments’ resources, including external consultants.
  • Is accountable to release and keep up to date the Technical documentation
  • holds delegated responsibility for site safety in installation and commissioning activities.
  • Reviews monthly KPIs with upper management, to ensure all performance targets are met
  • Prepares annual multi-year budget (MYB) for his/her department
  • Controls and manages budget versus actual expenses/revenue
  • Performs Risk and Safety Analysis related to his/her area of responsibility and develops improvement plans as needed
  • Proactively ensures that customers queries are answered in no more than 48 hours.
  • Supports the HSE process and documentation for access and personal passes on site.

Skills:

  • Solid experience in the telecommunications sector, with a particular focus on radio frequency (RF) systems, including design, implementation, and optimization of RF infrastructures (airport enviromental is a plus)
  • Customer orientation: capability in managing international customers in a  multicultural and dynamic environment
  • Ability to influence stakeholders in complex negotiation
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English, used as your daily business language.
  • Fluency in Italian, spoken and written, is a must.
  • Additional languages are considered a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
  • Excellent presentation, reporting and technical documentation writing skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to operate independently
  • Willingness to travel worldwide when required.

Education:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent certification

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in delivering installation, commissioning and site activities for complex technical systems in an international business environment (e.g. navigation systems, non-radar surveillance systems, telecommunications infrastructure and similar mission-critical technologies).
  • Minimum 5 years as a team manager
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Good knowledge of business administration, contract management and supplier management.
