Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Integrated Product Team Lead – Electrical Power Systems, the Mechanical Engineer will support the design, analysis, and qualification of spacecraft module hardware. In this role, you will develop mechanical packaging for electronics and power modules, ensuring performance through launch and space environments. You’ll work closely with electrical, structural, thermal, systems, and manufacturing teams to deliver high‑reliability, flight‑ready hardware across multiple spacecraft programs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and update mechanical packaging for spacecraft modules
  • Create and release CAD models, 2D drawings, and assembly/installation documentation
  • Support structural and thermal analysis through CAD prep and updates
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to improve producibility and reduce risk
  • Contribute to module‑level testing, validation, and design reviews
  • Support fixture design, DFMEAs, and documentation for module development
  • Work cross‑functionally to resolve design challenges and maintain schedule

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 2+ years of engineering experience
  • Proficiency in GD&T and CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment
  • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience with space hardware or high‑reliability mechanical packaging
  • Familiarity with EPDM and aerospace manufacturing/test processes

Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Physical Demands

An employee must meet the physical demands described to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. The job operates in a professional office environment but in a manufacturing company. This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and scanners.
