Terran Orbital is seeking a motivated DevOps Intern to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Ground Systems Manager, the DevOps Intern will help us shift security left for mission‑critical aerospace applications migrating to AWS. As a DevOps Intern, you’ll build a reference CI/CD pipeline with integrated security scanning (SAST, DAST, container & dependency scanning), automate ASD STIG compliance checks on every commit, and deliver developer‑friendly docs and dashboards. If you love automating workflows, integrating security tools, and improving developer experience without compromising compliance, you’ll make a visible impact from day one.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in daily stand‑ups; share progress and blockers
- Pair program with senior engineers (2–4 hrs/week) and submit code reviews
- Build and iterate AWS CI/CD (CodePipeline/CodeBuild; EKS where applicable)
- Write Terraform/CloudFormation for infrastructure‑as‑code
- Integrate security scanners (SonarQube, OWASP ZAP, Trivy, Snyk) and configure quality gates
- Script automation and tooling (Python/Bash, GitOps workflows)
- Aggregate and visualize results (e.g., Security Hub, CloudWatch/Prometheus) into security metrics dashboards
- Maintain developer guides, runbooks, troubleshooting docs, and short demo videos
- Weekly Friday demos; document decisions and lessons learned
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or IT
- Able to work full time, onsite in Irvine, CA for 8 – 12 weeks starting in June 2026 (no relocation stipend, must be local).
- Proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language (Python, Bash, JavaScript, or Go)
- Git experience (GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket) and comfort with Linux/Unix CLI
- Understanding of cloud fundamentals (AWS is a plus)
- U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Hands‑on with AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
- Docker & container security fundamentals
- Infrastructure‑as‑Code (Terraform/CloudFormation)
- Exposure to application security (OWASP Top 10, DevSecOps) or security tooling
- Personal projects showing automation/deployment; GitHub portfolio with code samples
Salary Range
- Freshman/Sophomore - $25 per hour
- Junior - $27.50 per hour
- Senior/Graduate - $30 per hour
Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Physical Demands
