Job Description:

Your Impact

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Calibration Engineer to join our Central Tooling team. Reporting to the Calibration Centre Team Lead, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality mechanical measurement, calibration, validation, and inspection services.

Using advanced equipment and specialised software, you will ensure all activities meet defined quality standards and support the organisation’s commitment to precision and excellence.

For the awareness of internal applicants: this is a JFF level 4 position.

What you’ll do as a Mechanical Calibration Engineer:

•             Support the measurement and calibration of aircraft assembly jigs, fixtures and master tooling using a range of Conventional Equipment, Laser Trackers, Articulated Measuring Arms and other co-ordinate measuring equipment.

•             Assist with the measurement and alignment of aircraft structural components across the range of Leonardo aircraft types both onsite and at customer facilities, supporting the setting of various vital aircraft systems and confirming structural accuracy during aircraft assembly.

•             Assist in providing a reverse engineering service through the use of contact and non-contact scanning equipment and techniques, creating geometrically accurate digital models and representations of tooling, components and aircraft structure.

•             Assist in conducting component and aircraft measurements supporting the investigation of component manufacturing faults and aircraft build anomalies.

•             Contribute to forward planning of 'in house' calibration tasks to meet the requirements of the business.

•             Support in generating calibration inspection procedures and reports for tooling & aircraft components.

What you’ll bring:

•             Educated to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a technical discipline and to hold a recognised engineering apprenticeship.

•             Experience in a tooling or component manufacturing or inspection role.

•             Experience of three-dimensional design and measuring software packages.

•             Good knowledge of Microsoft office suite.

•             Willing to travel within the UK and abroad

This is not an exhaustive list, and we are keen to hear from you even if you might not have experience in all the above. The most important skill is a good attitude and willingness to learn.
