Job Description

About us

  • At Sierra, we’re creating a platform to help businesses build better, more human customer experiences with AI. We are primarily an in-person company based in San Francisco, with growing offices in Atlanta, New York, London, Paris, Madrid, Munich, Singapore, Japan, and Sydney.

  • We are guided by a set of values that are at the core of our actions and define our culture: Trust, Customer Obsession, Craftsmanship, Intensity, and Family. These values are the foundation of our work, and we are committed to upholding them in everything we do.

  • Our co-founders are Bret Taylor and Clay Bavor. Bret currently serves as Board Chair of OpenAI. Previously, he was co-CEO of Salesforce (which had acquired the company he founded, Quip) and CTO of Facebook. Bret was also one of Google's earliest product managers and co-creator of Google Maps. Before founding Sierra, Clay spent 18 years at Google, where he most recently led Google Labs. Earlier, he started and led Google’s AR/VR effort, Project Starline, and Google Lens. Before that, Clay led the product and design teams for Google Workspace.

What you’ll do

  • Build and run Sierra's operating system, to drive visibility, accountability, and decision-making across the business, ensuring priorities flow clearly across the organization

    • Plan and perform: Own the goal-setting infrastructure and leadership cadences that keep Sierra aligned and moving, ensuring priorities are set clearly, communicated broadly, and acted on across the organization

    • See the business clearly: Design dashboards and scorecards that give leadership and functional teams real-time visibility into business performance, and build these into dedicated forums to discuss and decide

    • Operate AI-natively: Help Sierra lead by example in how a modern company runs, embedding AI into how we plan and operate across functions

  • Accelerate Sierra's growth into new markets: Lead the cross-functional work required to expand Sierra's presence into new segments and geographies, from operational and entity setup to ensuring product, marketing, and GTM readiness ahead of launch

  • Be a trusted thought partner to Sierra's business leaders: Embed alongside functional leads to help them tackle their toughest, most complex challenges, bringing first-principles thinking and structural clarity to high-stakes initiatives and driving them from problem definition to execution

  • Help build the foundations of Sierra’s business operations function: As a core member of a growing team, help define what world-class business operations looks like at Sierra — partnering closely with operational leadership to prioritize the right work, raise the bar on how we operate, and scale our impact across the business

What you’ll bring

  • 4-7 years of experience in business operations or strategy, ideally combining on-the-ground operating experience at a high-growth technology company with 1-2 years of management consulting, investment banking, or VC/PE

  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional presence, with a demonstrated ability to earn trust quickly, build consensus across competing priorities, and manage through complex, multi-stakeholder environments to reach clear outcomes

  • Proven ability to structure and manage complex, cross-functional initiatives from scoping through execution, maintaining momentum and delivering outcomes in a fast-moving environment

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to flex across altitudes and contexts, from working group updates with cross-functional teams to executive-level communications and presentations

  • Strong critical thinking skills, a first-principles mindset, and sound business judgment, with a track record of bringing structure to ambiguity and driving to clear recommendations under uncertainty

  • Strong analytical skills and fluency with data, with the ability to work with metrics and data to inform strategy, pressure-test assumptions, and translate findings into clear, actionable plans

Even better…

  • Previous operating experience at a rapidly scaling technology or AI company

  • Experience designing and standing up AI-native workflows

  • Experience implementing company-wide operational processes & systems

Our values

  • Trust: We build trust with our customers with our accountability, empathy, quality, and responsiveness. We build trust in AI by making it more accessible, safe, and useful. We build trust with each other by showing up for each other professionally and personally, creating an environment that enables all of us to do our best work.

  • Customer Obsession: We deeply understand our customers’ business goals and relentlessly focus on driving outcomes, not just technical milestones. Everyone at the company knows and spends time with our customers. When our customer is having an issue, we drop everything and fix it.

  • Craftsmanship: We get the details right, from the words on the page to the system architecture. We have good taste. When we notice something isn’t right, we take the time to fix it. We are proud of the products we produce. We continuously self-reflect to continuously self-improve.

  • Intensity: We know we don’t have the luxury of patience. We play to win. We care about our product being the best, and when it isn’t, we fix it. When we fail, we talk about it openly and without blame so we succeed the next time.

  • Family: We know that balance and intensity are compatible, and we model it in our actions and processes. We are the best technology company for parents. We support and respect each other and celebrate each other’s personal and professional achievements.
