Within ISR & Space Systems we design and manufacture Environmental Control and Life Support Systems on the International Space Station, including undersea in submarines. 

Collins Space & Defense Rockford is seeking a 2nd shift Shop Floor Supervisor/Cell Planner position with supervisory experience in a testing and/or manufacturing environment. 

The ideal candidate will be an independent worker requiring minimal oversight, have excellent communication skills and the ability to work and manage a fast-paced environment.  Seeking a candidate who will have the ability to leverage technology to enhance communication and operational efficiency of the plant The Operations Supervisor/Cell Planner ensures ample coverage to support internal and customers in support of on time delivery.  

This Supervisor will be responsible for bargaining unit employees on program specific testing and instruction of products.  

This position will be working on 2nd shift Monday- Friday approximately 3pm- 11pm. Training will be conducted on 1st shift Monday- Friday approximately 7am-3pm, until business needs determine. 

 

What You Will Do  

  • Requires a candidate with strong leadership skills and the ability to convey effective direction using strong written and verbal skills 

  • Effectively manage administrative functions, develop strategies for process improvements, and support leadership in implementing changes across the organization 

  • Coordination of manufacturing production requirements and daily activities with the day shift supervisor and cell planner 

  • Daily interface with Program, Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering organizations to ensure customer committed hardware and data deliveries are consistently tracked and achieved 

  • Coordination with quality and stock room personnel in planning and implementing engineering changes in production materials 

  • Focus/ability to set priories and work independently 

  • Proven ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously 

  • Adaptability to change in a fast-moving environment 

  • Participating in relentless root cause corrective actions 

  • Managing work in process (WIP) to ensure work orders do not age and are processed and status regularly 

  • Supervise everyday execution of the department operating processes and increase efficiency of workers for various growth-oriented programs 

  • Maintain and provide efficient backup to supply department and ensure achievement of all internal and external needs 

  • Support in relentless root cause corrective actions 

  • Provide training to workers and provide upgrade to various technical skills 

  • Analyze and identify all performance related issues and ensure appropriate steps to prevent loss 

  • Develop plans and supervise various departmental meetings and participate in various growth campaigns 

  • Analyze all opportunities and recommend ways to improve efficiency and reduce costs 

  • Ensure compliance with applicable EH&S requirements and company policies 

  • Plan, schedule and create work orders for preventative maintenance, and repairs 

  • Administer contract requirements to optimize profits, verify obligations are met, ensuring customer satisfaction and retention 

  • Assist leadership in driving on time, within budget deliveries of service and products 

  • Formulate effective strategies that enhance the welfare of the organization 

  • Develop measures to motivate employees and ensure retention 

  • Manage bargaining unit staff by supporting time charging, overtime requests, and cross training 

 

Qualifications You Must Have  

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience 

  • Working knowledge of the SAP or similar Enterprise Requirements Planning system 

  • Process improvement experience (ACE toolset or Lean Manufacturing)

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
