The following position is to join our RTX Enterprise Services team:

RTX has an opening within Enterprise Services Applications (ESA) for a Sr. SAP Basis Architect (Sr. Manager, Business Systems and Transformation).

Team:  Team with other Sr. SAP Basis Architects to drive SAP strategies for RTX’s multiple, complex SAP landscapes, both on-prem and cloud-based.  Interact with IT Management and Staff, Project Managers, key Functional SME’s and developers to ensure optimum system availability, reliability and performance; as part of our ERP Technical Services Team, he/she will be a leader working closely with SAP Basis & Security, UNIX/Linux System Admins, DBA’s, Storage Admins, Network/Firewall Admins, and Backup/Recovery Admins.  This is a senior, go-to resource critical to our SAP Project work, as well as our continuing Operational Readiness. This leader will be self-motivated and require minimal supervision.

What You Will Do:

  • Function as the primary Basis Architect for mission critical SAP BW HANA systems and SAP ERP ECC Systems.  Requires 8 years of prior experience implementing, upgrading and supporting.  Must have experience with BW HANA scale out scenarios.

  • Function as Technical expert for BW HANA installations, upgrades, and support for on-prem and Cloud environments.  Efficiently troubleshoot and resolve issues in the environment.  Must be proficient in performance analysis and tuning.

  • Designs and implements the SAP Basis Architecture across a complex, highly integrated SAP environment (SAP PI/PO, Fiori, ECC/ERP, BW-HANA, BOBJ, GTS, CRM, SRM, SLT, BCS, Solution Manager/SLD, CUA/IdM, RunMyJobs, S/4 HANA, MDG, SAP Cloud Connector, Ariba etc);

  • Participate in design and deployment of High Availability solutions working with Linux and DBA team.  Prior experience preferred.

  • Obtains & refines the technology requirements at RTX for new or already deployed SAP solutions, understands the impact/implications to existing SAP landscapes & processes, and defines our response.

  • Provides input, technical descriptions, diagrams, and detailed steps as required for project planning and documentation.

  • Researches, plans, correctly installs/upgrades/patches, performance tunes and supports all SAP software at RTX (because of the number of SAP products/technologies deployed, no single Basis Architect will be an expert in every technology, but will be a strong contributor on a team which supports them all);

  • For some repeatable activities (such as SAP kernel patches), clearly documents the RTX procedure to follow for deployment across the landscape by our run and maintain Basis Admins.

  • Uses broad system experience to quickly troubleshoot & resolve system problems or issues; able to smoothly coordinate troubleshooting activities with other disciplines (UNIX/Linux Admins, Network Admins, DBAs, Storage Admins, etc);

  • Serves as a resource for our team of SAP Basis Administrators in all aspects of SAP Basis, providing oversight regarding both the strategic and ongoing configuration of large SAP systems.

  • Serves as an SAP Basis Subject Matter Expert (SME) providing guidance as needed in areas including but not limited to, SAP BW HANA support, Upgrades, TMS, Change Management (CHARM), Profile & Parameter Management, Performance Management, System Copies, Job Scheduling, System Connections, Interfaces, Monitoring, and SAP Security.

  • Participate in annual Disaster Recovery testing as needed supporting the team to obtain success criteria.

  • Serves as an on-call Escalation Resource 7x24 for SAP BW and other critical RTX SAP systems, helping ensure the highest possible system availability.

  • Keeps abreast of changing SAP software, solutions and technologies; able to adapt quickly as RTX implements latest SAP technology.  SAP BW/4 HANA experience is beneficial.

  • Provide input to all SAP Basis related policies, procedures, controls, and best practices.

  • Function as the Primary System Administrator for Systems assigned, maintaining constant Authorization To Operate (ATO) compliance, assuring all required controls are implemented and that vulnerabilities are mitigated in a timely manner according to RTX SLA’s as per policy.

  • Exercise good judgment, demonstrate strong problem solving, time management & organizational skills; manage a queue of support and project work, including reporting to management.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • 10 years’ experience in Sr. SAP Basis/Basis Architect arena with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, or Advanced Degree in related field and minimum 7 years prior relevant experience. 

  • Expert level experience with BW HANA Scale out solutions.  Firm understanding of SAP Technology, hardware, Linux OS, Oracle and HANA DBMS, Network, Backup, High Availability, and Monitoring technology; ability to guide other members of our ERP Technical Services Team, and especially our Basis Administrators as well as Functional Team & developers.

  • Experience deploying multiple High Availability solutions, including Linux-Pacemaker H/A Solutions

  • Multiple complete life cycle SAP BW HANA implementations with in depth knowledge and experience with the SAP Upgrade and Update Processes.

  • Knowledgeable in SAP Security Administration; able to support our SAP Security Admin Team with problems or issues.

  • Project management skills; ability to advise and influence Management from the Basis perspective on the appropriate steps to successful implementations.  Able to create project plans, develop cost estimates including infrastructure and labor, and maintain plan through to successful implementation on schedule and within budget.

  • Familiarity/experience with successfully meeting corporate Audit requirements including Sarbanes-Oxley, general computing controls, access controls, NIST controls. 

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • SAP BW HANA install, upgrade, tuning, support in a scale out environment, SAP HANA Certification, SAP BW/4 HANA Certification, MS Azure and/or AWS Cloud Experience/Certifications

  • SAP S/4 HANA Implementation and Support, UNIX/Linux Sys Admin, DBA, or Developer, Single Sign-On/LDAP technology with SAP BW, ECC and SAP Portal

  • Understanding of government contracting processes and regulations and understanding of ABAP programming language

  • Shell Scripting

  • Business Objects Integration experience, SAP certified Basis training

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
