We are seeking a Data Analytical Methods Sr Engineer to support the development of new energetic products, adaptive engineering of existing energetic product lines and sustaining current energetic product lines. The Data Analytical Methods Engineer will be involved in all phases of the product life cycle, including proposal preparation, product brainstorming sessions, design support, supplier support, and manufacturing support with design and non-conforming material analysis. The position is expected to participate in continuous improvement activities, be capable of leading efforts, creating detailed plans and providing recommendations for complex technical issues in the department.
Our facility manufactures and tests explosive, propellant, and cartridge-actuated devices. This position will be working onsite in Fairfield, CA.
What You Will Do
Perform structural and ballistic analyses of components and assemblies designed for aircraft escape systems, launch vehicle flight termination systems, commercial gas generators, and missile systems.
Address complex and challenging problems through the development and application of static, dynamic, implicit, and explicit finite element models with limited oversight.
Develop material models for non-linear materials, including composite propellants, manufactured on-site.
Apply a general understanding of multiple engineering disciplines, including mechanical design, systems, and materials, to support analysis activities.
Communicate analysis results and recommendations effectively to a variety of audiences, both internal and external to the organization.
Leverage analysis expertise to support propulsion projects during proposal, development, qualification, production, and test phases, including leading and contributing to failure investigations throughout these phases.
Plan and execute structured experiments, such as Analysis Design of Experiments (DOE), to evaluate and support design concepts.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
Experience working with Finite Element Analysis software packages
Experience with Stress Analysis
Analytical experience including strong knowledge of physics, dynamics, and statics
Experience presenting design solutions to internal and external customers
3D CAD experience
Qualifications We Prefer
M.S. in Engineering, Aerospace or Mechanical preferred, plus 3-5 years relevant experience
Previous experience with energetic cartridge actuated devices or propellant actuated devices
Previous experience using SolidWorks CAD software
Previous experience of aerospace/military standard specifications
Previous experience with aircraft cockpit, crew station, escape system, ejection seat, or crew systems design
Previous experience with FEA or Strength hand calculations
Previous experience in ballistic analysis

The salary range for this role is 95,500 USD - 181,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
