Raytheon is seeking a Principal Reliability Engineer to play a critical technical leadership role supporting Patriot missile systems within our Land and Strategic Missile Defense business. This position offers the opportunity to own reliability strategy for a mission-critical, fielded weapons system, influence design decisions, and mentor the next generation of engineers.

Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) ensures our products are safe, reliable, maintainable, and delivered on time—from early design through fielded operations. As a senior member of the Reliability discipline, you will serve as a technical authority across development, test, production, and sustainment activities.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and own reliability predictions and analyses for Patriot missile systems across the product life cycle

  • Serve as a technical mentor and provide internal reliability training to engineers and cross-functional teams

  • Influence system design through participation in design reviews, trade studies, and risk assessments

  • Lead failure analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective action efforts to drive continuous improvement and customer confidence

  • Provide technical direction for field return disposition, complex assembly/disassembly challenges, and flight test readiness

  • Partner closely with design, manufacturing, quality, and test organizations to analyze test data, identify trends, and improve system performance

  • Communicate complex technical findings clearly to engineering leadership, program teams, and customers  

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.

  • Experience in Reliability, Electrical, or Systems Engineering

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with reliability predictions and/or missile scoring analysis.

  • Experience leading multiple technical efforts in a fast-paced, operational environment

  • Proficiency with reliability modeling and statistical methods (e.g., Weibull analysis)

  • Experience with FRACAS, failure investigations, and corrective action systems

  • Hands-on experience with system assembly, disassembly, and test

  • Ability to plan and oversee reliability testing (ALT, degradation testing, HALT/HASS)

  • Familiarity with FMEA, FMECA, FTA, and RCA methodologies

  • Experience analyzing large datasets using SQL, scripting tools, or similar methods

  • Experience developing and delivering technical briefings to customers and senior leadership

  • Familiarity with NI LabVIEW/LabWindows, PXI, CompactRIO, or similar test platforms

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools

  • This is a full-time, onsite position based in Tewksbury, MA.

  • Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
