What you’ll get to do:
- Apply broad knowledge of vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, propulsion, and classical/modern control theory and estimation theory to solve complex aerospace engineering problems. Contribute to development of new knowledge, concepts, products and innovative solutions. Interpret, organize, execute and coordinate technical assignments for aerospace engineering activities.

- Navigation and/or Target Tracking subsystem requirements
- Navigation sensors and/or Targeting sensors selection
- Missile Guidance and Autopilot requirements
- Control Actuator System (CAS) selection
- Propulsion System selection
- Define navigation/target tracking and vehicle dynamics modeling requirements and simulation architecture
- Plan, organize and execute navigation, target tracking, missile guidance & autopilot algorithm design, development and implementation
- Participate and support navigation, target tracking, missile guidance & autopilot subsystem integration and test
- Analyze test results of navigation, target tracking, missile guidance & autopilot subsystem from 6 degree-of-freedom (6 DOF) simulation, processor-in-the-loop (PIL) simulation, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation, ground test, separation flight test, captive carry flight test and live fire launch
- Verify navigation, target tracking, missile guidance & autopilot subsystem performance meets requirements
- Attend and present at various design reviews and test readiness reviews
Basic Qualifications:
- BS in engineering & 14 years of relevant experience; or master’s in engineering & 12 years of relevant experience; or PhD in engineering & 10 years of relevant experience
- Active DOD Secret Security Clearance
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the technical fields below:
- Navigation - Own-Ship State Estimation, GPS aided Inertial Navigation System, Strap-down Navigation, Multi-Sensor Data Fusion, Navigation Sensors, Measure of Performance for Navigation
- Tracking - Target State Estimation, Track File Manager, Multi-Target Tracking, Angle-Only Tracking, Geo-Locating, Multi-Sensor Data Fusion, Targeting Sensors, Measure of Performance for Target Tracking
- Guidance – Basic/Expanded Guidance Law, Impact of targeting sensors to Guidance, Measure of Performance for Guidance
- Control – Autopilot/Flight Control architecture, Aerodynamic database, CAS, Impact of Navigation sensors to Autopilot, Measure of Performance for Autopilot
- Demonstrate capability in:
- Modeling vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, propulsion and CAS in 6 DOF simulation with ECI/ECEF/Geodetic/NED coordinate frames
- Collaborate in flight vehicle system development. Leverage multi-disciplinary design, optimization, and analysis processes, tools, and efforts.
- Matlab, Simulink, C++
- Author proposal papers
- Understanding of Software development process and configuration management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university
- Strong with AGILE, MBSE, and / or system architecture frameworks
- Effective project management skills and good communication techniques
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Excellent communications skills, including the ability to present and brief technical data to all levels of leadership within the organization and U.S. Government
- Proficiency with RF Threat Modeling
- Proficiency in guided missile design
